Overclocking and tweaking

Overclocking test

We have overclocked the processor to find out how much more you can squeeze out of the attractively priced AMD processor. As you guys know, overall the overclocking potential is somewhat disappointing: because the processors are already pushed and binned close to their maximum. Not to mention that more cores create a lot of tweaking complications.

Remember that we're going for an all-core overclock and that means a lower clock frequency than the highest Turbo bin offers. What you need to do:

  1. Enable and start at 4100 MHz (41 Multiplier)
  2. Apply 1.40v to the CPU (or simply leave it at auto)
  3. Work your way upwards from there until the system becomes unstable and then back down at least 100 MHz.
Our end result was 4400 MHz on all cores stable, we left the motherboard voltage settings at auto.
