It has been confirmed by several sources now that Microsoft is making a 360 with an upcoming Windows 8.1 update. Windows at default will boot into desktop mode. The reason for the reversal is to improve the OS for keyboard and mouse users. This preference will likely not apply to touch-screen devices.

Our forums have been going mad and topic of hot discussion with anxious AMD users that are awaiting an AMD Mantle driver. DICE yesterday already rolled out the Battlefield 4 Mantle patch, a mantle benchmark for Star Swarm was released, yet the driver needed got delayed yesterday as AMD stumbled into issues they wanted to fix first. And that makes total sense really. We just learned from AMD that a new driver has been built overnight and that it is being tested by AMD at this very minute. With a bit of luck that means the actual public release is in the upcoming days. After the break an explanation from AMD.
We kick off a new year for the Rig Of The Month, this year sponsored by Corsair. The Guru3D Rig of the Month January 2014 was made by Luciel Campbell, in the past he already won a prize and that drove him towards his latest creation, called APASF. He has made a LAN box beyond believe with a modest steam-punk style. Actually, come to think of it, it maybe a little weird to look at really but it certainly is something unusual and beautiful, his rig called "APASF aka Campus Party Europe 2013 London Edition" we feel is a hit in design and customization. And that makes it an awesome Rig of the Month here at Guru3D.com

Star Swarm is a real-time demo of Oxide Games' Nitrous engine, which pits two AI-controlled fleets against each other in a furious space battle. Originally conceived as an internal stress test, Oxide decided to release Star Swarm so that the public can share our vision of what we think the future of gaming can be. The simulation in Star Swarm shows off Nitrous' ability to have thousands of individual units onscreen at once, each running their own physics, AI, pathfinding, and threat assessments.

The Battlefield 4 patch with Mantle support was just released. Unfortunately, AMD does not have a driver ready today. As explained in our previous Mantle article, only in CPU limited situations you will gain performance with Mantle. DICE just released some numbers as well, these are their own internal tests showing performance differences in-between DirectX 11.1 and Mantle.
At this very moment some websites are reporting that the MSI GTX 780 Ti Lightning graphics cards will not go retail. There's quite a bit of confusion right now whether or not this is true. I can confirm that it is true, at least on the short term MSI will not release this product into the etail/retail market. Now that's a bit weird as you already have been able to see some preliminary teaser reviews and overclockers with this product posting photo's including packaging and what not. Here's the thing.
AMD has been working on a new Ruby tech demo for a ling time now, actually we reported about this last year already as most media already has seen it during a recent press-briefing. There have also been some YouTube movies available. Posted below is the information that has been stated so far and none of it seems all that far-fetched; the biggest item may be the Xbox One for $399 without an optical drive. Of course, a drive-less Xbox One rumor has popped up before but nothing sounds concrete at this time; most of the other information is related to games that will be released during 2014.

You know, whenever Enermax released new Fans I alwas have to think about CeeLo Greens 'Bright Lights Bigger City'. Daumn them LED fans are bright. Excellent fans really. The Enermax fans with the patented circular LED light belong to the most popular cooling solutions for gaming and modding systems. With up to 48 diodes (depending on the model), the Enermax fans have an impressive effect - even behind tinted acrylic windows or mesh panels. While reflex stripes on the blades create the characteristic curved rays of light, the single diodes can be controlled via an integrated micro chip to generate five fantastic LED effects.
If you thought Netflix and iTunes would make optical discs a thing of the past, think again. Facebook has built a storage system from 10,000 Blu-ray discs that holds a petabyte of data and is highly energy-efficient, the company said Tuesday. Facebook said last year that it was exploring Blu-ray for its data-center storage needs, and on Tuesday it showed a prototype system at the Open Compute Project summit meeting in San Jose, California. It designed the system to store data that hardly ever needs to be accessed, or for so-called 'cold storage.
