Intel Haswell-E Roadmap Confirms DDR4 - 8 Cores and Launch in Q3 2014

We have talked a lot about Haswell-E in the past already, as it is the next big thing in processor land to happen in 2014. A new roadmap leaked on the Haswell-E is an 8 core CPU series. Conformed now is that with the platform you'll get DDR4 memory. Quad-channel DDR4 RAM along with increased frequencies could lead to a near 50% increase in bandwidth compared to the older, triple-channel configuration which housed much more conservative RAM clock speeds. The high-end SKU will be priced at 999 USD.

GTA V Coming to PC Early Next Year

The never ending story, Eurogamer is citing "multiple industry sources" that GTA V will be released on PC in the first quarter of next year. Multiple industry sources have indicated the open world game, currently available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will come out on PC in the first quarter of 2014. The release plan mirrors that used for Grand Theft Auto 4, which released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 29th April 2008 before launching on PC in December 2008. A PC release should come as no surprise.

Winamp isn't EOL just yet

Winamp media player and its associated website were supposed to be shut down by its owners at AOL on Friday, December 20th. That deadline has come and gone and, lo and behold, both are still up and running as of this writing. This fact would seem to lend credence to rumors that AOL is in serious talks with a company that would in theory acquire Winamp. The thinking is that the negotiations would give the site and the software a stay of execution until the deal is finalized. So far, the only company that has been named as a possible buyer is Microsoft.
