Microsoft plans to update Windows 11 by introducing a feature that enables users to connect to WiFi networks through QR code scanning. This enhancement aims to simplify network connections, particularly for mobile devices like notebooks and tablets, by eliminating the need to manually input passwords. The feature will be incorporated into the Windows 11 Camera app, where users can activate it by selecting the "Scan Barcode" mode.

Currently available in Windows 11 preview versions, this QR code scanning capability is expected to be officially launched in the 24H2 update, slated for release in the autumn. Although this addition promises greater convenience, especially for users of mobile devices, it's worth mentioning that preview versions might include bugs. The 24H2 update will also introduce new system requirements, such as the need for the POPCNT instruction set, potentially impacting those with older hardware. This requirement reflects Microsoft's continuous effort to update and possibly phase out older technologies in its operating system.
