Bethesda Game Studios has announced plans to integrate NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology into Starfield in an impending update. While the developers previously acknowledged the intention to support DLSS, they've now specified that the update will initially roll out as a beta on Steam, with a subsequent universal release. The notable aspect of this integration is the inclusion of Frame Generation technology, designating it as DLSS3.

The announcement also alludes to potential refinements related to displays and HDR controls. Although Starfield currently supports only the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR2) technology, the development team has revealed aspirations to support FSR3 in upcoming updates. Both DLSS and FSR technologies operate on similar principles, leveraging frame generation methodologies.

Interestingly, despite the ongoing collaboration between AMD and Bethesda, Starfield will prioritize the implementation of NVIDIA's DLSS over AMD's FSR. This strategic move ensures players can utilize top-tier upscaling technologies without resorting to third-party solutions or modifications.

Bethesda - Note, DLSS is for PC Nvidia users only. We’ll also have AMD FSR3 support in a future update. — Bethesda Game Studios (@BethesdaStudios) November 1, 2023
