Samsung roll-up TV now pops up in patents as well

LG just announced their rollable TVs.  So, Samsung can't lag behind. A recently published patent reveals that we might soon also expect a Samsung TV with a scrollable display.

Samsung Electronics filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a 'roll-blank display device'. The patent was published on 25 December 2018 and shows a roll-up TV design.

The retractable Samsung TV is completely different towards that of LG. At LG the screen rolls upwards, from a wide cassette. With the design of Samsung, the TV rolls, and get this ... to the left and right. So that is something you can more easily place at the desired location and just as easily roll up again for transport.

The television with flexible display is supported by a stand, which is placed vertically in the middle. This keeps the screen nice and tight, to prevent image distortion. A very ingenious design. There is a narrow housing on the display's opposite sides, with a roller inserted into it. The system is a bit like a roller blind. Samsung has designed the retractable TV so that the stand is perfectly stored between the two housings when the device is fully rolled up.

You can find the patent from Samsung Electronics here. More at CES?
