Supporting both PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 5.0 x2 interfaces, the 990 EVO aligns with the needs of present-day systems that support PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots while also accommodating future applications employing PCIe 5.0 interfaces.

Enhanced Performance Surpassing Previous Generations Compared to its predecessor, the 970 EVO Plus SSD, the 990 EVO boasts significantly improved performance, with up to a 43% enhancement. This translates to nearly halving data access times, reducing loading durations, and providing users with more time for productive tasks. The drive offers impressive sequential read speeds of up to 5,000 megabytes per second (MB/s) and write speeds of up to 4,200 MB/s. Furthermore, it exhibits enhanced random read and write speeds, reaching up to 700K input/output operations per second (IOPS) and 800K IOPS, respectively. Employing Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology, the SSD establishes a direct link to the host processor's DRAM, achieving optimized performance even in the absence of DRAM components. Upgrading from a previous mainstream SSD results in faster game loading speeds and quicker access to large files.

Improved Power Efficiency and Intelligent Thermal Control The Samsung 990 EVO showcases superior power efficiency, offering up to a 70% improvement over its predecessor. This extended power efficiency enables prolonged use of PCs or laptops without the constant need for recharging. Users can work remotely in coffee shops or from the comfort of their homes, knowing they won't run out of battery quickly.

The drive also supports Modern Standby, ensuring rapid device resumption from sleep mode. Even in low-power scenarios, users can instantly wake up their devices with uninterrupted internet connectivity and seamless notification reception. The 990 EVO's heat spreader label effectively manages drive temperature, enabling consistent high-level operations without compromising drive integrity.

Samsung Magician Software Support The Samsung Magician software suite offers an array of optimization tools tailored for Samsung SSDs. It streamlines data migration for hassle-free and secure SSD upgrades. Additionally, Samsung Magician safeguards valuable data, monitors drive health, and provides timely firmware updates to ensure data protection. The 990 EVO will be available at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $124.99 for the 1 TB model and $209.99 for the 2 TB model.
