Rumor alert, first mentioned, then withdrawn, and now back in the chatter channel is the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, a new Ampere GPU has been discovered that may be named the RTX 3070 Ti.

The product of subject is a PG132 SKU 35 that would get a GA102-150 chip paired with 7424 shader cores (FP32-ALUs). Considering a RTX 3080 has 8704 shader-cores and the RTX 3070 with 5888, that's not a bad looking product. The new GPU could therefore sit in between these two Ampere cards in terms of performance.

Nvidia has to derive the RTX 3070 Ti from the larger RTX 3080 and so it also gets its 10 GByte memory. An RTX 3070 Ti with 10 GiByte GDDR6X memory would definitely be an interesting proposition. Twitterer kopite7kimi claims that this new GPU should compete with the Navi 21 XL, the suspected RX 6800. As to the validity of this all, who knows.
