Extreme overclocker Sampson, a member of AMD's overclocking team, set a new world record using an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU.

Only three days ago, the same overclocker earned top position in the HWBOT rankings by simply unlocking the same CPU without any excessive cooling. However, as previously said, the Ryzen 9 7950X is capable of considerably more, as we have already seen this Zen4 CPU running at 6.5 GHz with all 16 cores.

This was accomplished with an LN2 evaporator and an overclock of 6.70 GHz. Another achievement from the same source is a 6.45 GHz all-core overclock with exceptional cooling, which results in an incredible 48235 points in the same test. Both achievements are the work of Sampson, who has been leading the HWBot charts for the AMD Overclocking team. To date, the highest known/leaked Cinebench R23 scores obtained with a Core i9-13900K "Raptor Lake" sample is 40616 points, while significant formal OC feats with the chip have yet to begin. The Intel chip has already made headlines for breaking the 8 GHz frequency barrier. Any attempt to dethrone the 7950X will require overclocking the 8 P-cores, but it will all come down to the 16 E-cores and how far they can be pushed. The highest post-launch CB R23 score attained on a current-gen i9-12900K is 26299, and this is 26291 for the 5950X.
