NVIDIA is preparing to launch an upgraded version of the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card. Unlike the original's 8GB of VRAM, this model will sport 6GB and will continue to be based on the Ampere GPU architecture. A detailed look into its specifications shows that the upcoming GeForce RTX 3050 will house the GA107-325-Kx GPU, built on the PG173 SKU 16 PCB board.

Although NVIDIA hasn't revealed the exact core count, the card will have a base clock speed of 1470 MHz, marking a 17% reduction from its predecessor. The updated version will adopt a 96-bit memory bus, in contrast to the original's 128-bit. This alteration restricts the VRAM to 6GB. Moreover, with a total graphics power (TGP) of 70W, many versions of this card might forgo the need for an external power connector — a notable difference from the RTX 3050 8GB's 115W TGP and its requisite 8-pin connector reports wccftech. This change also suggests more cost-efficient PCB designs, possibly resulting in savings on assembly and materials. Additionally, the boost clock speed for this GPU stands at 1470MHz, representing a 17% drop from the original's 1780MHz.

NVIDIA plans to begin production of this card in Late this year, though a specific release date remains unconfirmed.
