Intel's introduction of the Arc A750E and Arc A580E graphics units into the Linux driver signals an expansion into the embedded market with its Alchemist GPU architecture. These developments come from Intel's NEX business group, which appears to be gearing up to launch products within the Barlett Lake-S and Alchemist-E lines. Although it has been over a year since the debut of the Alchemist GPU architecture, and with the anticipated launch of the Battlemage GPU architecture by the end of 2024, Intel's Alchemist GPUs are far from being phased out. The addition of the Alchemist architecture into the embedded sector suggests a strategic move to diversify application areas for these GPUs.

The update to the Linux driver includes the introduction of two new PCI IDs: "0X56BE" and "0X56BF," which correspond to the Arc A750E and Arc A580E models, respectively. This information, disclosed by Phoronix, indicates a clear direction towards embedding Alchemist-based GPUs in a wider range of devices.

Further insights from ADLINK and Advantech websites confirm plans for the Alchemist-E product line, suggesting that these are not consumer-grade products from Intel's CCG (Client Computing Group) but rather specialized offerings from the NEX business unit. These embedded GPUs are likely to share core features with their consumer counterparts, with potential variations in functionality and an extended warranty period, characteristic of products designed for embedded applications.
