Intel's second-generation pure E-core Xeon CPU, codenamed Clearwater Forest, is anticipated to feature a maximum of 288 E cores, as shared by source Bionic_Squash. The processor is set to follow the launch of the first-generation Sierra Forest Xeon processor in mid-2024, with Clearwater Forest slated for release in 2025.

Clearwater Forest's E cores are optimized versions of the Skymont cores, aligning with the architecture expected in CPUs like Lunar Lake and Panther Lake, scheduled for 2025. The attached screenshot from IT Home provides additional context.

Sierra Forest-SP boasts a configuration of 144 cores and 288 threads, while Clearwater Forest Xeon, leveraging the Skymont architecture, aims to reach an impressive 288 cores. Additionally, reports suggest notable enhancements in IPC (Instructions Per Cycle) and L3 cache, with the CPU utilizing the Intel 18A process node.
