Intel drivers show 400 and 495 chipsets for Comet Lake and Ice Lake

Intel released chipset drivers that show that new chipsets are inbound. The 400 series is intended for Comet Lake and follows the 300 series. In addition, there is the 495 chipset for Ice Lake, for laptops. That means Intel's 10-core Comet Lake-S chips seem to need a new 400-series motherboards and socket



The new chipsets and references to the upcoming processor generations are in the chipset drivers and associated readme files that Intel has put online reports Dutch Tweakers. That was noted by Twitter user momomo_us. Comet Lake is the successor of Coffee Lake and would be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Itm is a 14nm processor, but there will be variants with a maximum of 10 cores on the platform for consumers. The corresponding chipset is the 400 series, as a successor to the 300 series for Coffee Lake.

Oh and hey you know what this all means, you're going to have to purchase a new motherboard with the new desktop procs.
