Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake processor refresh is poised to maintain the existing core count in flagship products while elevating clock frequencies. A leaked benchmark comparison between Intel's Core i9-14900K and Core i9-13900K, as shared by @wxnod, suggests potential advancements in multi-threaded performance as well. It's important to exercise caution when interpreting performance leaks.

An individual purportedly in possession of Intel's forthcoming hardware had the opportunity to evaluate a sample of the next-generation flagship Core i9-14900K CPU (8P+16E, up to 6.0 GHz). This evaluation involved a comparison with Intel's Core i9-13900K (8P+16E, up to 5.80 GHz) and Core i9-13900KS (8P+16E, up to 6.0 GHz). The CPU-Z built-in benchmark was employed to glean rudimentary insights into single-threaded and multi-threaded workload performance.

Performance Metrics in CPU-Z Built-In Benchmark

Single ThreadMulti Thread
Core i9-14900K 978 18,118.5
Core i9-13900KS 945.5 17,197
Core i9-13900K 978 17,167.5

The purported Core i9-14900K showcases a nearly 10% improvement in single-threaded performance over its immediate predecessor due to its higher base frequency. Impressively, it also outperforms the Core i9-13900KS, which features an identical 6.0 GHz maximum boost clock, by 3.5%. This achievement can be attributed to the new CPU's prolonged operation at maximum frequency, surpassing its predecessor's capabilities. Notably, the Core i9-14900K displays an 8.5% edge in multi-threaded workloads compared to its predecessor. While precise information about the all-core clock frequencies of Intel's upcoming flagship desktop CPU is currently unavailable, this performance augmentation could be a result of elevated all-core clock levels or prolonged operation at existing levels, relative to its precursors.

It's crucial to acknowledge that the performance enhancements observed in the leaked Core i9-14900K benchmarks are based on synthetic benchmarks and an engineering sample of the CPU with unspecified specifications. The actual capabilities of the retail versions of Intel's Core i9-14900K are yet to be unveiled.

Intel's plans involve commencing shipments of its 14th Generation Core processors for desktops in the upcoming fall season.
