Yingren Technology's (the company behind innogrit) YR S900 PCIe 5.0 SSD controller has commenced mass production, signifying a notable achievement in the realm of domestic enterprise-level PCIe 5.0 main control chips.

This announcement was made on September 26, 2023, during the "China Chip·Storage Future" 2023 Storage Industry Trend Summit. YR S900 is the eighth chip from Yingren Technology to enter mass production since its establishment in 2017 and stands as the pioneer in domestically produced enterprise-level PCIe 5.0 main control chips.

Data Center Support The burgeoning data center market and an escalating focus on supply chain security have led to an upswing in demand for domestic data center-level SSDs. Engineered with future data centers in mind, YR S900 offers the following:

  1. Leveraging the PCIe 5.0 interface for substantial SSD performance augmentation.
  2. Extensive compatibility with mainstream NAND variants, supporting 16 or 18 channels and accommodating Yangtze Memory particles.
  3. Utilization of open-source RISC-V architecture to ensure IP security.

High-Performance Computing Capability YR S900 harnesses a 4-channel PCIe 5.0 interface, supports NVMe 2.0, and employs a multi-core CPU parallel command processing approach to optimize the advantages of PCIe 5.0 bandwidth. Key performance specifications comprise:

  1. Sequential read speeds reaching up to 14GB/s.
  2. Sequential write speeds achieving up to 12GB/s.
  3. 4K random read speeds scaling to 3.5M IOPs.
  4. 4K random write speeds peaking at 2.5M IOPs.

Augmented Data Stability via Self-Developed 4K LDPC YR S900 integrates Yingren Technology's third-generation ECC error correction engine to refine 4K LDPC encoding and decoding, digital signal processing technology, and a hybrid adaptive error correction solution. This amalgamation enhances error correction capabilities and curtails data processing delays. The measured 4K random read latency can plummet to as low as 10us, ensuring SSD stability, extended service life, and heightened data throughput, especially in tandem with KIOXIA XL-FLASH.

Advanced Customization Features YR S900 boasts support for FDP (Flexible Data Placement), SR-IOV hardware virtualization technology, CMB, and more. The FDP function permits flexible data writing, enhancing steady-state random write performance and mitigating write amplification. It can be configured to cater to specific requirements, offering nearly a 1 WAF (Write Amplification Factor) in select applications without sequential write constraints.

Moreover, YR S900 accommodates various data encryption and user authentication algorithms, alongside an advanced key management design that ensures compatibility with security protocols and data modules (SPDM) as defined by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF). This integration delivers an efficient and secure storage solution to users.

The company actively penetrates the PCIe 5.0 enterprise-level SSD market, presenting adaptable collaboration models to data center and enterprise-level users. Their objective is to create an efficient, secure, and low-consumption storage solution while contributing to the PCIe 5.0 ecosystem.
