The ROG Phone 8, with a weight of 225 grams, is approximately 9% lighter than the previous ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. It features a slimmer profile, boasting a higher display-to-body ratio of 94%. The device's top bezel has been reduced to a mere 1.65mm from the previous 5.65mm, while the side bezels are now a slender 1.67mm, down from 1.9mm. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC found in both devices delivers up to a 30% improvement in CPU performance and a 25% boost in GPU performance compared to their predecessors. Despite a slightly reduced battery capacity of 5500mAh (versus the 6000mAh in the ROG Phone 7 series), ASUS assures users that battery life remains consistent. Furthermore, the phones support 65W fast charging and offer wireless charging capabilities.
The ROG Phone 8 is available with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Pro model offers the same specifications, alongside an enhanced variant with 24GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of storage. This enhanced version includes an optional cooler that is more compact and lightweight.
Both the ASUS ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro are available in black, with the standard ROG Phone 8 also offered in gray. The ROG Phone 8 starts at $1,100, with a pre-order price of $1,000. The Pro model has a base price of $1,200, and the variant with the AeroActive cooler is priced at $1,500. European pricing details are yet to be announced.
