ASRock has begun rolling out UEFI firmware update AGESA 1.1.0.0 ComboAM5PI. This update is crucial as it prepares the motherboards for compatibility with AMD's soon-to-be-released Ryzen 7000G Phoenix and Phoenix 2 desktop APUs.
AMD's strategy for the Ryzen desktop APU offerings in the Socket AM5 platform suggests a broader range of processors compared to previous generations, which were limited to a few models. The forthcoming lineup is expected to include a variety of Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, and possibly Ryzen 7 processors, along with their PRO counterparts.
It is anticipated that the Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 models will utilize the "Phoenix 2" architecture, which combines two "Zen 4" and four "Zen 4c" CPU cores with an integrated GPU comprising 4 compute units. Rumors indicate that the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 models might feature the "Phoenix" architecture, possibly offering up to eight "Zen 4" cores and an integrated GPU with as many as 12 compute units.
