Adata has introduced the SE920, an external SSD utilizing the USB4 specification. This SSD offers data transfer rates with read speeds up to 3800MB/s and write speeds of 3700MB/s. Available globally in 1TB and 2TB storage variants, the SE920 features a standard Type-C interface, ensuring efficient data transfer across various devices and facilitating swift video exports from mobile phones.

One of the SE920's standout features is its active dissipation system, designed to address the temperature rise during fast data transfers. This system includes a patented micro fan, which activates when the telescopic casing is extended. This action enhances internal airflow and dissipates heat, leading to a temperature decrease of approximately 10% compared to similar SSDs lacking this feature. The SE920 maintains a compact design when compressed, making it easily portable.

The SSD can transfer a 10GB 4K video file in approximately 3 seconds, thanks to its USB4 interface speeds of 3,800/3,700MB/s. Initially, the SE920 was presented with a read speed of 4000MB/s, but recent updates confirm a 3800MB/s read speed and 3700MB/s write speed over USB4.

USB4 supports transfer rates up to 40Gbps and is compatible with USB 3.2, USB 2.0, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4. The addition of the microfan ensures the SSD operates at optimal performance. While Adata has highlighted the SE920's advanced USB4 capabilities, information about its controller is yet to be specified. However, previous reports have suggested Adata's use of the ASM2464PD controller from ASMedia, which is currently the only USB4 controller known to achieve these speeds.
