As mentioned this is for people like Dell or HP to stick in low cost desktops that will not stress the 300w PSU and has a brand name which they will get a massive discount on, I'm struggling to think of any nvidia card currently that gives good bang for buck for the enthusiast at any level. In the past the ti's used to be that, but now they simply fill yet another cost level so the whole spectrum is covered. I guess lack of competition is to blame. Lets hope navi follows AMD cpu's of recent times and gets them back in the game.

While I can see a market for this card in people who want a hassle free upgrade for their prebuild (although how much of a market that is I couldn't say), I do feel that it's a good 40-50 bucks more expensive than it should be. For almost everyone else the 570 is clearly the better buy giving the competing price points. Honestly though, I find all of Nvidia's current lineup to be more expensive than it should be. Mid range the only one of their cards that I like is the 1660 vanilla, low power usage and decent performance, most seem to OC to almost 1660ti/1070 levels, but again it could do with being 10-20 bucks cheaper. The 1660ti is in some sort of weird limbo between the 1660 and 2060 to the point where you may as well save 50 bucks and get the 1660 or spend another 50 for the 2060. Fingers crossed for Navi, even for die hard NV fans it might provoke some price drops if nothing else.

Are you guys done beating power consumption into the ground yet? You're running an overclocked 8700K..... Let's talk reality for a minute now. For most of us, the power consumption difference between this GTX1650 and an RX570 is negligible at best. The difference is a few dollars a year, at best. If those few dollars are that important, turn your thermostat up 2 degrees this summer. Problem solved. I find it quite funny that power consumption of a graphics card was never a concern until the 600 series launched. Now it's all some people seem to care about. This card is a disappointment. Compared to the RX570, it's not worth the asking price, regardless of it's power consumption.
I’m not saying that it was a card for me. Does being a AMD exclusive user make people incapable of reading comprehension? I pointed out it’s advantage over the 570 that’s it. The 570 requires a external PCI power cable this card doesn’t in the instances that a customer wants a GFX card to ply fortnight or DOTA or one of the lighter titles out there on a cheaper big box store computer this card is an option. Most of those PSU’s that come in there are not going to have the cable for the extra power. Let’s also look at another problem that arises when a card uses more power. Noise and heat. The 570 is a warm card warm cards require the fan to spin more more air moving more noise. This card however will not produce much heat which mean less noise. I know that’s not a big deal for most but some may rank it high on their priorities. And I love how you suggest turning the thermostat up to offset. Seriously if you have to sacrifice comfort so you can justify the people’s GFX card I don’t know what to say.

The card itself is fine, 30%~35% faster than 1050Ti in 1080p, the thing that ruins it is the price! Way too high for this performance level. In any case, versions without a power connector should sell well, especially for pre-assembled systems!

Seeing power draw and temps, the 1650 is a good candidate for a fanless design. Still, that under-performance will have gamers go for the Rx570 and HTPC users opt for the $80 gt1030.

Let's be fair though. If it was the only advantages an AMD card would have over an nVidia card nVidia fans would laugh at AMD very hard (with good reasons). This card can help someone who bough an Intel computer without a discrete gpu and with a 300W PSU. But to be fair if you bought such a computer investing 150$ on this card (it's not cheap at all) is probably not a wise move. Better to keep piling your money and build a new cheap PC later. Like everyone say it's a good 50$ too much for its main (and probably only) use case. If you got a PSU able to power the 570 there's absolutely no reason to buy this. Like none.

HTPC should only be iGPU like what comes with the 2200G Ryzen or G5400 Pentium to be fair and this card would not be used. There only a few cases this card would be used and most of it's use will be uniformed consumers. There will be a small number that this card actually is the best option (even at this price), but not many.

Its funny, this little thing is faster than the first GTX Titan!
Not that impressive really if not downright disappointing. The 750Ti was quite a lot faster than a 9800GT/GTX when it came out and those also had 5-6years between releases.

or you could say it is equal to a HD 7970 or GTX 680 lol it really is.

I generally agree, but many HTPC users may have a need for the extra power a GPU offers over iGPUs, especially when using advanced video renderers (MadVR) to improve vid quality, and here iGPUs may fall short.

Here in Canada, the GTX 1650 costs 200-250 Canadian plus tax. Just think about this for a second. This card is using a TU117 die. This die belongs in an XX30 class card, and it costs 230-280 Canadian after taxes, depending what model you are getting. This is absolutely appalling. Come on, this is slap to the face of anyone looking for a budget card. https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=gtx+1650&N=-1&isNodeId=1
You can have a RX 580 4GB in Canada for just a little bit more money (20-30$ more) ...

AMD exclusive? Who's AMD exclusive? I own 2 laptops with Intel mobile processors as well as an i5 6600K and a Celeron J1800. I also have my Athlon 5350 and my Ryzen 5 1600. For graphics cards, I have my RX470, an HD7950 and an R5 240 from AMD as well as a GTX970 and GTX 1660Ti from NVidia.

Where in the review does it mention that you should look for a 970 for $100-$120?
You may find it even cheaper, but that would not be fair comparison... used product vs. new. While I do not think this is particularly good card and there are better choices between new cards, this has certain value for those who have no ability to deal with HW and need small card to PC with weak PSU. For average audience on our forum, there are better choices.

So you are going to ignore the rest of the post and focus on this? Got it. I simply assumed just as you did. see how that works.

to be fair this card is faster than a 1050ti which sold a lot at the same price give or take $10 bucks. it will sell

I know I'm pulling a necro on an old article here but..... I just got 12 old Lenovo office PC's that use half height slots, can upgrade the processors up to i7 3770, i got a bunch of old DDR3 memory laying around and was like... hey... i could turn these into gaming PC's... damn... half height.... So i was looking around at cards, and these 1650's fit the bill perfectly, sure they are kinda overpriced (even now in 2020), but they are pretty much the only option for half height cards that run cool and dont use a lot of power that are also powerful enough to run fortnight, Destiny 2, e.t.c at pretty decent settings. My only other option is to hotrod the cases and make a shroud that fits around full height graphics cards that stick up through the hole i would have to cut in the case, and... that would be a hard sell to people interested in buying the systems. Anything else wouldnt be cost effective, as if i bought new cases for them, i would need to modify the cases to fit the non standard motherboard and power supply, or replace the power supply with a standard one, at that point I'm spending more money on the systems than i am likely to make in return. So yeah, still wish there was a better option, but i guess i found out what these cards are meant for?
