Ah, the software level limitations, never happened before and yet there it is again! 😀

Regarding other vendors : Did you tried to rename "mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll" ? windows 10 sometimes disabled Intel overclocking in windows and renaming "mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll" fixed it.

The locked multiplier stopped me from buying one

Why not get the 2200G instead? Sure, it's nearly double the price, but it's substantially better in nearly every way (including the fact you can OC it). I'd argue it's a better value. The 200GE may have a better TDP, but you'd throw that away once you OC it.

It just so happens that I've ordered one and an MSI MOBO. I'm making a new media center PC. 35 watts and all that, to good to miss. I have down loaded the new bios and saved them. I'm expecting delivery some time this week my mobo is the MSI A320M PRO-VH PLUS. So we shall see. I'm very busy at the mo, xmas and all, but if it comes up top trumps, then I will post back on this. 🙂 This tiny 55$ chip smokes the phenom 2 920 at default clocks

Well you have bought A320 board, so you wont be overclocking anything anyway

That's what I thought?

the "gaming" A320 board series from MSI can do basic OC, not as the 350 but some few usefull one. A bit as they have done with intel H81 and H110

According to TechSpot: Athlon 200GE overclocking which has been inadvertently enabled across MSI's AM4 motherboard lineup. That's AM4. We will see, like I have already said. 🙂

Multiplier...
Multiplier settings on a320 boards generally does nothing, even if these are present. They often reuse bioses from b350 boards without removing the OC settings, but it does not work.

To have seen a 1600X on the board i can tell it was working on his A320... same on my H81 that i use with my PA @ 4,4, the only limit in my case is the 1600mhz on the DDR3 and CPU voltage. Anyway the best G200 argument is the TDP not the OC, you can have the complete rig in passive cooling 🙂 (it's for that i need one, but no more in stock until january in here)
