If AMD expects people to invest in a new CPU+MB combo, they have to price it right. Intel has the price too inflated, it's a guess game of how much?
It is not the peoples who have buy their new shiny setup yesterday or 1 year ago, that AMD is targeting. But peoples who buy new PC ( pre builded ), new laptop, or have old setup and who can be interested to change them. It is not like many peoples buy cpu's on day one. It is not as for Iphone hé hé. Look, my 4930K start to be aged, i have 3x x79 mobo there, I was interested on a 8 cores Intel, good motherboard start at 350$ ( i need a LGA2011-3 socket and last x99 chipsets ). add 1000+ $ for the 6900K.... ( for the rest, i will anway need a new block for the CPU and DDR4 ) And honestly i dont plan to upgrade it right now.. maybe in some months, i dont know when.. I have allready 2 GPU's to upgrade. In reality i need 4 GPU's slots for computing. ( Blender, Autocad, Revit etc ) And this 6 cores is for the moment way enough for the task ( specially OC )

The eu isn't really that screwed normally prices include 20% vat where the US and here in Canada taxes are added after here they add another 13% on top
boo hoo, cry me a river, you do realise that a LOT of people in the EU work full time for around 300 eur a month? Don't you be telling me Canada or US have it bad.

As much as I would love to get one 8/16, IF I ever get the money to upgrade, I will probably be looking at 6/12, once it comes out. If it comes out

Same here, probably looking at a 6c/12t variant £200 - £250 ish maybe.

The end is near intel (such i have an i7 6700k)
your 6700k is still good for a few years. i have the 4790k on another PC going back about 3 years and it's still kicking ass. for now im sticking with Intel until I see some real world performance from these Ryzen cpus.

I miss when it was 15% here, more socialised there though.
What % do they take out of your paycheck on the first dip? Isn't it like 30-60% depending on income? man... thats crazy having to give a combined 80% of your income to the man.

The price of that 1800X in the U.S. is going to make it sell like mad! Really? Equivalent to a 6900K? I'll wait for the benchmarks and to see if there are any issues before considering, but this price is going to get AMD back in the game if they live up to the hype.

Nah, nowhere near that. An average salary of say £20k would pay less than 10%, while £100k would pay around 35% income tax. VAT can definitely make a difference with stuff like PC hardware. The in laws are off to NYC in a few months, but even with 9% sales tax v 20% vat i might not save anything as the would be paying US shop prices instead of UK online.

Wow, less than $500 for the flagship R7 1800X. It's looking more and more like my next CPU. Just waiting on the reviews for real world performance info.
Not really. The prices are similar to EU ones, and notice it says "Excl. VAT". So, £365+73(20%) = £438*1.25 (current £ to $) = $547.50 Here in the US, they'll likely price it at $599.

AMD charging premium? lmao, what is this world coming to

How is that premium?
data/avatar/default/avatar29.webp
A half priced Intel i7-6900K competitor will sell like crazy if it's performance competitive. New 6900Ks still cost $1049.

I'm pretty sure he's trolling...

I don't think anywhere in the US has tax at 20% though, less than 10% for most. This is definitely not premium pricing, it's not cheap either which maybe some are expecting.

It's hard to spot now days who is trolling and who isn't. Some are just confused.

If performance match and or beat Skylake which i doubt, I might be jealous for the 299 I spent for the 6700k I could get 8c/16thread. Talking about STP and i dont fan of amd
