I almost exclusively had Logitech mice over the years, where that button was for sensitivity changing. It's likely the same with this one.

about 2-3 years ago my https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/peripheral/mice/reaper/#specifications broke down after years of service was a UNIT 145 g ...and loved it ! hehe maybe this is why i prefer heavy mice ! But i remember back then i really tried to find the same mouse and buy it again :P
