as long as ppl are still using OSs that dont have pcie/nvme drivers coming with it (install media), sata will be around. its also enough for most drives,and i can make boards requiring less lanes, than if all drives were running over pcie. especially on smaller/cheaper boards. I wouldnt really care, if sata top read speed would go past 500MB/s. with nvme, at least the connection isnt the bottleneck anymore.

Not in capacity or price from what I been reading, then again that is probably still cheaper then ssd/nvme and m.2
