Very odd that these are coming back, i would have figured we was moving on from this old technology onto much faster methods such as PCIe, m.2 nvme, SSD etc.
In my next build i don't even plan on buying a traditional hard drive, but maybe there is still a market out there for these things. i mostly remember the velociraptors (think thats what they were called) having a habit of breaking down quite fast due to the very fast RPM and the needle often breaking. but maybe they have fixed that?

There no SSDs in most mainstream PC or notepcs. All using HDD.
Sadly, HDD are not leaving any soon.

My Velociraptor going strong nearly 5 years day and night.
I still haven't jumped on the ssd bandwagon. I will, but haven't had a major need for it and until they a reasonably priced at 2TB i can wait. Going to buy another 4GB storage drive this weekend in fact.
HDDs will be around for a long long time. I'll get an SSD my next build later this year o early next but i'll still have a few HDDS in my system.
And actually, knocks on wood... i haven't had a single HDD fail me in 20 years, in fact i have a 10 year old Samsung HD in my pc right now from way back in like 2008, from my core 2 duo build. Sata3GB even, and that thing did run 24/7 for about 6 years and still does sometimes now.
