You dont know what you're talking about, low grade ? the "TG-50" with a thermal conductivity of 8 W/mk < that's Arctic MX-4 territory.

Cute... but who is this targeted at? People who are actually applying thermal paste (most likely) don't need a "stencil". I guess it's never a bad thing having options 🙄

I think the idea is to create a more even spread. The pressure from a heatsink will cause the "combs" to squish and meet together. I am sure TT would of tested for such things as air bubbles forming before they release it.... or I would hope they did. I will wait to see Gamer Nexsus review this.

did they just copy Corsair ? that's how corsair AIO and XC9 XC7 water blocks come with pre-applied paste, it works better than the stupid "pea dot" technic of youtubers...who know it doesn't work and even show that half the time the TP only goes one side of the lid but still continue do it in their videos >< edit : let me find a picture of it I'm changing block for a heatkiller IV pro threadripper, waiting for it zero availability in my country of course I didn't leave it like that and applied Kryonaut paste on the entire surface, the oem pattern was obviously for an Intel that said it worked not that bad because it was super thin compared to manual application

I once applied a 6mm bead,a 3mm bead, spread it out beforehand and it made zero difference in temps. This TT stencil is bullshit. If anything it creates gaps as in the picture shown above my post.

Hey, I always used the pea method over the years and my temps have always been in-line with what could be expected of the CPU/cooler. Things are a bit different now I guess with higher-end Ryzen chips but GN did a study on different methods and there was little difference. 😡:p

This is from pre applied thermal paste, which is always already dried in order to make sure it stays on the coolers block. This needs the CPU to be run for a while in order to heat up the paste. I have used on of the older corsair AIO's and it came with the honeycomb pattern, temps were perfectly fine and when I removed it to apply new paste or to change cooler I remember the coverage being completely fine. Also, this TT appliance is for people applying their own paste which is 99.9% of the time wet and not dry like with the pre applied stuff on the coolers so it should spread out a lot more and a lot more quickly without the cpu needing to heat the paste up first.

^ When you put on a cooler it then spreads, it doesnt keep this shape 😉 I just put some more coolermaster maker pro with 12w/mk on replacement cpu , pea sized blob and it spread just as fine. But i agree, it's more of a clever marketing gimmick, although it still looks nice to look at before covering it 😀

Because of my experience with arctic silver over the years and how expensive it is for the amount that's in a bottle this triggers me because of the waste. :x

I like it. It helps control the amount of paste applied. It is great for people doing it the first time. The spread will be even. Quite creative.

Do people have an idea of the pressure between the cooler and the cpu? the paste get super thin and it goes nearly out of the borders. The paste is suppose to fill in micro gaps on the metal or uneven surfaces. Is not that the stencil here is the product, they are still selling the thermal paste and to differtiate themselves they added this little plastic thing. It will let you waste the past yes, but if you are planning to do just a couple of applications and let the rest of the paste in the tube for 2 years, well it does not make difference.

If it's like the 10db fan (like a tupolev from WW2), the high flow waterblock (that block the flow and make CPU heat), etc etc etc... i am (sadly) right lol Anyway i would go Artic better than give a chance to Tt on that product.

You should give a try to gd900 1/5 the Arctic mx4 price or less ... Same performance ! I used it recently so far so good and according to tech yes city 18 months later was just fine , really i got 30ml for 6bucks ..... I was just willing to throw it away if it was trash 😛
