I can already see getting a rtx40 series wont be that easy or cheap.

I bought a RTX 3080 last week for (at last!) its actual MSRP on the assumption that the 4000 series GPUs would be near impossible to buy at launch and at the MSRP. I am sure these cards will be great though so I look forward to reading the reviews.

I hope you got the 12gb 3080.

I guess there's a really, really tiny minority of people who are still surprised.

I suspect I'll be keeping my 3090 until games don't fit into 24gb of vram anymore.

If they take $200-300 off of the 3090 msrp, I'll consider. otherwise I'll wait for an 4080. No rush.

Subliminally preparing you for the monster prices ... Tin Foil Hat ON!

Well, as long as my 2080Ti doesn't die, I can wait. I could probably even sit 4xxx out, too, though I don't particularly want to.

I'm thinking along a similar line, with a different angle. The chance of gaming requirements exceeding 24GB in the next 6+ years is about nil. The cost of memory will need to drop substantially and the physical size too for that amount to appear on upper mainstream cards. Having said that, I'm keeping my 3090 until its at least 4 years old, I cant justify the ridicucost otherwise. It might even make over 6 years, I'm using my 1080ti+6700K still, more than the 3090+10700K lol. Partially due to the cost of electricity, also because I'm playing many older games that dont need a 3090 or high performance CPU. Its much easier to game behind the curve these days with such a high backlog of quality older games.

Basically you won't be able to get one until 2023. Done. Looking forward to the potential price-drops on RTX3080 though. It's still a nice step-up from my GTX1070.

Same here last week RTX3080 for game i play RTX 3080 i can turn every thing on at 3440x1440. dont see any reason why i go wait even longer on new GPU ( old one was 1070 for last 6 years )

I had been using SLi 660Tis for something like 5+ years where I upgraded to a 1070(just before the mining boom) and had only upgraded because the crappy 2gb of Vram wasn't even enough for low settings on Forza Horizon 3. The sad part is that they still had a fair bit of horsepower if not for the tiny ram buffer.

I skipped the 3000 generation because my 2080ti was doing well but my next card will be a 4090. I can wait not hurry, even if I have to wait until X-mas. Merry X'mas to me.

Don't hold your breath. The GTX 1660 Super is still ~double what I paid for mine before the insanity (and that was too much). Stupid prices and unobtainable nature of the new cards only drives the gouging up on the old ones.

Maybe because it's a timeless classic music lyric quote? 😀

No. I got the 10 GB version. I only play games at 1440p and do not intend to upgrade to 4K on PC any time soon. I have consoles for (up to) 4K gaming on a big screen OLED TV.

I picked up my 3080 SuprimX last week for £780, it runs a little warm but i have new Gelid GP Ultimate W/mK 15 Thermal Pads in the post to replace the cheapskate pads that Msi installed.

I looked at several reviews on the 10gb vs 12gb versions and the 12gb doesnt add much to gaming performance, compared to my LHR edition there really is nothing to gain from the extra £200+.
