tbh, I figured as much. I guess they are now sticking with xx80s having Titan prices.

man you could build a whole computer for that price back in the day

This is looking pretty bleak. It's one thing for a halo product to have such a price tag, but knowing Nvidia, there will be a 4090 Ti too. For something like a 4080, what is that going to cost? It couldn't be $1000 because it's unlikely to be half the price if it isn't half the performance. And then what about the 4070? Even the $500 MSRP for the 3070 was a bit high. With prices this high and Intel not being competitive enough, AMD is bound to increase their prices too.

NVIDIA keeps their prices very much secret up until the point the announcement is literally happening. These prices are just placeholders based on the 30-series. Pricing information from NVIDIA does not leak, at best its guessed or some placeholder price is shown. Even board partners are not told until that point.

Moreover, it does not even have the 'Ti" moniker to justify this outrageous price! 🙄

and those are all quality components.

The inflation is real

Correct me if im wrong but historically doesn't that NV guy in the un-cool jacket not release the price to board partners until he is on stage? I wouldn't be surprised if this isnt just circular reporting, if enough people read something it then becomes the truth.

$2000+

Stop buying overpriced shit and things will return to normal, adjusted for inflation.

So pretty much everything. Especially electronics.

You do forget people already justifying a 4060 price at $600 because it might have the 3080 perf. If Nvidia kept the same pricing - perf ratio it did the last 2 gen (3rd inc) since the 8800GTX, the top of the range GPU would be costing today $25000.

Well it that is the case(rumor mill but anyway) I think I will skip new generation. Especially in spite galloping inflation, energy prices, and tbh, I need some medical attention soon, better to spend 1300e on my health than this crap, and go to France while I still can.

Maybe they're trying to scare away the scalpers and in doing so also scare away customers. I already spent over £2000 for the privilege of owning a 3090. At least it has a 4 year warranty and that's lasting til 2024 when the 5090 will be released. Even though i can afford a 4090 i'll pass as i spent over £600 on a 1440p monitor which won't need any more fps that the 3090 can't handle. No game coming out in the next two years that won't run great @1440p so i'm covered for now.

I don't forget, I just think such people are stupid. Hardware has traditionally not been priced based on relative performance. After 10 years, an i7 K series only went up in price about 15%, but the performance difference is exponential. The 8800GTX had an MSRP of $600. 10 years later, the 1080 Ti was sold for $700; again, roughly a 15% increase, but exponential performance difference. The 3080 was also sold for $700, which (while expensive) was not uncharacteristic of Nvidia. After a decade, a 15% increase, while not preferred, is totally reasonable. Then the mining craze happened, and the 3080 Ti was sold for $1100, a 35% increase over the 1080 Ti. I'm deliberately ignoring the RTX 2000 series because most people agreed that whole lineup was overpriced. If these rumored prices are anywhere close to the truth, the 4080 is going to be priced as though it were a 4080 Ti, and this pricing will trickle down, hence a 4060 being a ridiculous $600. Bear in mind, if it weren't for the mining market, we would probably have seen 3080s being sold for $600 by now. So, to have a new mainstream product have the price of what an outdated high-tier ought to have been is a bit of a slap in the face.

3080 600$ ? in NA mabye nowhere else...a 1080ti was already 750-850USD for me at release and I bought 580-680-780-980-1080-1080ti-3090 (3080 didnt show up before two years here) each was more expensive than the previous, prices never went down or back to previous gen prices again except maybe in NA ?! sounds like people expect "steam summer sales" on gpus that's never how it worked, they keep prices up until they have sold all the previous gen and then they disappear the only thing that might make one of the brands lower it's price is when the competitor releases a competitive product that steals their sales, then yes, sometimes, they lower prices

The price points are kind of irrelevant - everyone agrees the price is slowly drifting up, but the point is that the product pricing doesn't double when the performance does like some people are suggesting in this thread.

hmmm not sure I understand, if you mean that we get more perf than the price increase so it's "normal" then I agree but I'm into cars and their prices go up more than a few hundreds between generations :/ if the jump in performance is "that good" and the cards are now 450w I'm okay with power usage my 1080ti was around 310watts and gave me lets say 120fps my 3090 is 380w and gives me 220+fps in the same game I would not buy a non watercooled 4000 tough it's something an interested buyer should really think hard about (unless the card is 300w or less, I had 310w now 380-390 it makes a huge difference it's just too much to air cool

Every single leak on price has been almost exactly the same. It's going to be $2000 - $2500.
