This is looking pretty bleak. It's one thing for a halo product to have such a price tag, but knowing Nvidia, there will be a 4090 Ti too. For something like a 4080, what is that going to cost? It couldn't be $1000 because it's unlikely to be half the price if it isn't half the performance. And then what about the 4070? Even the $500 MSRP for the 3070 was a bit high.
With prices this high and Intel not being competitive enough, AMD is bound to increase their prices too.

NVIDIA keeps their prices very much secret up until the point the announcement is literally happening. These prices are just placeholders based on the 30-series. Pricing information from NVIDIA does not leak, at best its guessed or some placeholder price is shown.
Even board partners are not told until that point.

Moreover, it does not even have the 'Ti" moniker to justify this outrageous price! 🙄

The inflation is real

Correct me if im wrong but historically doesn't that NV guy in the un-cool jacket not release the price to board partners until he is on stage?
I wouldn't be surprised if this isnt just circular reporting, if enough people read something it then becomes the truth.

Stop buying overpriced shit and things will return to normal, adjusted for inflation.

Well it that is the case(rumor mill but anyway) I think I will skip new generation.
Especially in spite galloping inflation, energy prices, and tbh, I need some medical attention soon, better to spend 1300e on my health than this crap, and go to France while I still can.

Maybe they're trying to scare away the scalpers and in doing so also scare away customers.
I already spent over £2000 for the privilege of owning a 3090. At least it has a 4 year warranty and that's lasting til 2024 when the 5090 will be released.
Even though i can afford a 4090 i'll pass as i spent over £600 on a 1440p monitor which won't need any more fps that the 3090 can't handle.
No game coming out in the next two years that won't run great @1440p so i'm covered for now.

3080 600$ ? in NA mabye nowhere else...a 1080ti was already 750-850USD for me at release
and I bought 580-680-780-980-1080-1080ti-3090 (3080 didnt show up before two years here) each was more expensive than the previous, prices never went down or back to previous gen prices again except maybe in NA ?!
sounds like people expect "steam summer sales" on gpus that's never how it worked, they keep prices up until they have sold all the previous gen and then they disappear
the only thing that might make one of the brands lower it's price is when the competitor releases a competitive product that steals their sales, then yes, sometimes, they lower prices
