Love my Synology DiskStations - have for many years. Currently there is an annoying requirement with the latest DSM O/S update that 'appears' you MUST have a Synology Account to get certain codecs and so forth - once your DSM has updated. This seems somewhat annoying, needing yet another account for something... Happy to be corrected if someone knows otherwise - can't recommend these highly enough. Run multiple SQL Server instances in Docker Containers.

I think that the requirement is due to copyright reasons. Another happy Synology user, especially with how well SSD cache works on DSM 7.1, and with Synology Hybrid RAID (which I don't understand how other companies haven't mimicked yet) combined with bit-rot protected Btrfs. My cute little DS918+ works great!

I have a 1821+ since May. It was expensive but it's a great machine. Too bad that this machine got announced here... I might have had went with this instead. Got this particular model for the 10gbps option, which I wanted to not bottleneck. I see that Synology is STILL not offering on-board 10gbe on-board for lower-end model... >.>
