Isn't the point of a beta to let the public assess the performance of the game pre-release before buying it (or pre-ordering). I passed on the previous Battlefront due to EA's greedy practices, and it appears I'll be doing so again. Maybe in a couple of years I'll buy an ultimate (read: "this should have been the launch version") edition for 20 euros. But knowing EA they'll probably have released BF4 by then.

But there is an open beta as well some weeks later, without the need of pre-ordering to get into it. Many major companies don't offer public betas at all. And Activision does only private betas for pre-ordered CoD... so actually DICE/EA is pretty progressive with their approach to offer a 2 week OPEN PUBLIC BETA Btw. the beta phase thing is nothing that EA first initiated for the Battlefield franchise. It was DICE who always offered a public beta for their titles independently from the publisher. I really don't know what you are complaining about. "Give somebody an inch, and he will take a mile."

Actually they released BF4 a few years ago. 😉

Knowing EA, there will definetely be open beta which you can basically treat as a demo.

So watched the trailer, 90 percent cut scenes and 10 percent game footage. Never a good sign when they really don't let you see the meat and potato's of the game. My first impression was it looks like battlefield 1 with star wars characters. Then it jumped to space missions, but again doesn't really give you enough to know what that involves other than flying through an asteroid field. Gee no one has ever done that in a video game. Final impression is it sure is perty, but does it have a nice personality? Can't tell yet. Fingers crossed still.

They don't have to have an open beta when there's hundreds of thousands of Pre-order fools around to do the testing. For this game i will be one of those fools because i'm already sold from what i've seen and heard about this game so far.

theres a few videos going around of multiplayer gameplay if you jump on youtube. heres one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqokDpXDgA8
Yes so I watched the multiplayer videos. First impression is that it will probably offer upgrades for weapons for more money. Thus like the other failed games you as a newbie will be overwhelmed by superior fire power and never get to enjoy the full fun factor. Getting wacked over and over again while carrying inferior weapons is no fun. Word will get out quickly that unless you have money to burn, this is a no go. It looks like they put a lot of thought into this game, and I hope they match people up with same weaponry and skill level to give people a chance. It looks nice but in the prior star wars game it became a muddled mess with too many people, in too tight of a space to really use the weapons to full potential. The one map that I have seen looks like they have tried to address this by spreading out the map. I hope this stays in the game. Looks promising.
