Console runs amazing in 60 FPS locked games. Like Warzone or GT7 at 4K60FPS. (I haven't tested it with VRR because I lack a VRR TV with 4K120Hz).
But games running at locked 4K~30FPS (like FFXVI) definitely need more hardware. It is painful to play at 30FPS, even if you are using a controller.

This is very different to the previous generation, with the base ps4 and ps4pro there wasn't as big of a performance difference than in this supposed mid-generation console update will be both in terms of graphic power. Not so much for cpu though, which is weird. Quite possibly due to the fact that the console needs to have some kind of price ceiling.
What it will be for and for who. As thesebastian mentioned, almost all games run flawlesly at stable 60 and 4K resolution, well apart from tlou part 2, which runs at 2k res, but that will be resolved in january when the remastered version will be out on the 19th.
Could this pro upgrade be a attempt to hit 8K res in some games?Like it is written on the box of the console? 😀 Thats why the cpu upgrade is not so significant? We'll see. At first I was very sceptical about the rumours, but now it makes sense

I have one and games look amazing at 60fps1080p, at 4k I don't know because my TV is only full HD capable.
But for me the best aspect of the PS5 is the ultra fast loading, not the graphics, so I wonder if a pro version is really necessary.

A PS5 PRO is not necessary. Sony should just keep feeding us with good and well optimized games and let the graphical showcase on PC where it belongs.

There’s a lot of poorly upscaled games across both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, if a mid gen refresh means we get higher base resolutions and better image quality then I’m all for it.
