I almost would of bought a PS4 if they somehow were able to add PS3 backward compatibility, I really would like to try Ni No Kuni. I don't see them doing it though and I wouldn't blame them. And then depending what The Last Guardian ends up on, that'd probably seal the deal whether I get a lower priced PS3 or PS4.
I don't see how 1.6 GHz even if its 8-core can be the future. You need speed / core and multi-core that is good !
I thought about it. It must be due to heat/low power. Remember, consoles never had the best cooling and many fail due to overheating as it is. It shouldn't be much of a problem performance wise though if they're written for mulitcore, I mean that's mainly why older/unoptimized pc games favor higher clocked CPUs.

Maybe there banking on there exclusives.
Hate to sound like the spelling and grammar police, but... The contraction of "They are" is "They're" And...it is "their", not "there". The difference is one relates to locality by having the word "here" in it and the other is possessive, and so has the word "I" in it. BoT: this will be interesting to read more about.

As few of you seem to know about performance of that CPU, anyone mind sharing that information ? As it's new design, I have not seen any performance results but would be interested in seeing those. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mainboards/display/20130121235157_Microsoft_Xbox_Next_and_PlayStation_4_to_Feature_Eight_Core_AMD_Jaguar_Microprocessors_Report.html RAM: You can optimize stuff to work on that 4GB in PS4 and 8GB? in that new XBOX, should not be a problem. GPU's then, I have not seen any benchmarks or confirmed information what those include but still, you can optimize stuff and console players not the most picky people when it comes to graphcis. It's going to take few years after those consoles are out to be able to see what kind of gaming performance those offer. It's not about the brute power of a console, it's about optimizing stuff to run as well as possible. And still, PS3's in Folding@Home did quite good job.

The most interesting part for me in these new consoles would be there "Price".

Well, they are making same mistake again. Putting CPU with more cores. A lot of games were originally created (more less) for XBOX360 first, 'cause it has less cores, for porting and coding to be easier, efficient parallelization is not very easy task, few games were created which used all 6+1 logical units/cores - call whatever you like - and because of this reason games looked worse than it could. There are few games which took most of PS3, but i can't remember. If developers will use all 8 cores, BIG if, then we will see significant improvement. Those who think that developers use every bit of the console, be aware - they don't; and whenever game utilize more or less console power depends on developers.
