I know the M.2 Optanes that act as cache drives are limited to the latest Intel chipsets, but don't the U.2 Optanes work on other platforms?

Not necessary most of the time competition is versus other company or for better price, no innovation (too risky)... Then it 's a "who is stronger the elephant or the hippo?" market like in the 90'at the end only W$ XP gave a reset to the situation...
