oh Very Nice. I've been really looking forward to the 1st Quantum Dot TVs and monitors to arrive 🙂 They say it is a relatively cheap technology to produce despite potentially exceeding OLED. Ofc I expect the 1st ones to have the usual novelty 1st across the line type price tag!

Did they just rebrand dynamic contrast? HDR is now a buzz word I guess

HDR is not the same as dynamic contrast. You should probably do some research before commenting.

See the alternative is to say "no it isnt, here's what it is..." and maybe provide a link The description sure sounds similar to dynamic contrast Ah, its included in the media apparently

So finally Samsung supports what Sony does for a year now... But the fact that quantum dot isnt really a good thing for the environment, and tech that other brands dont need to produce same/better picture, is another reason i dont like samsung products (beside HDD and kitchen appliances ;-)...

Rather them start teasing us with display ports being put on there UHDTV's

quantum dot tv's are out since 2015 series, im writing this on one as we speak 50ju6872 😀

I'm guessing that Samsung has to try to fight back with whatever it's got, taking into consideration that LG has very superior OLED TVs out and will start selling even better ones soon at a lower price than before. Can't wait to see OLED TVs continue getting cheaper 🙂

Me neither! ALL the tech we have atm is really bad for black levels so your dark scenes in games look dreadful. Also colours look bad and washed out compared to CRT.

Tvs are currently way ahead of monitors in picture quality..Stop being a hermit..get a few friends and a good tv so you don't have to stay in your room all day playing with yourself and your monitor

Really?..so your too stupid to try a Google search..because if you did it would take all of 10 seconds to find out samsung had quantum dot tech...higher rated than songs picture quality too...since last year

Perhaps his mistake was assuming you had two spare brains cells to rub together..Hence you could have easily Googled the answer yourself..Normally I wouldn't have to teach an adult how to tie their shoes but suffice it to say there is a drastic difference between HDR and dynamic contrast...HDR is the single biggest image quality enhancement tech to come out in over a decade..it literally changes the viewing experience

Says the guy who can't edit a post or multi-quote in a single post? Your attitude is interesting for someone who has literally only just joined, ex-member perhaps?

@konta/btm5684 i dont need to use google or read reviews, as long as samsung doesnt pay me, i dont care. so far i have yet to see a samsung that doesnt cost twice compared to a sony/LG and that actually looks better with same content. that fact it took them 3y to improve their color banding (vs. sony/lg) shows how "good" their tv's are...

I'd throw one more thing in against Samsung... one of my house mates repairs non-functioning flat screen TV's and he has repeatedly shown me where Samsung (over all the other main brands) have a habit of using the cheapest possible components to get the job done. Sometimes even using parts that are rated below the required spec ! These cheapout component selections Samsung make have very often been the cause of their screens failing just outside of their warranty periods. Personally I used to hold Samsung with some decent regard in my mind, but that has been somewhat dented by the extremely regular use of cheap components in their flat screen TVs.

you know i normal would agree with you, but my dad has sony 65 XBR 930c And that has some the best black i seen to date for LCD/LED there are times I think the TV is OFF when it all black scene, and the darks scene look really nice, still no match for CRT but best black i seen on LCD/LED out side of OLED... 40" frameless OLED cant come soon enough imo. Still want to see UHDTV with displayport support

That might explain why when I had my last samsung TV repaired for picture issue, I winded up with picture issue followed by non functioing hdmi ports then no picture at all on the new board. the did replace the hdtv with a newer model though,
