We need HDR monitors Samsung! Not TVs, but monitors!

oh Very Nice.
I've been really looking forward to the 1st Quantum Dot TVs and monitors to arrive 🙂
They say it is a relatively cheap technology to produce despite potentially exceeding OLED. Ofc I expect the 1st ones to have the usual novelty 1st across the line type price tag!

Did they just rebrand dynamic contrast? HDR is now a buzz word I guess

So finally Samsung supports what Sony does for a year now...
But the fact that quantum dot isnt really a good thing for the environment, and tech that other brands dont need to produce same/better picture, is another reason i dont like samsung products (beside HDD and kitchen appliances ;-)...

I'm guessing that Samsung has to try to fight back with whatever it's got, taking into consideration that LG has very superior OLED TVs out and will start selling even better ones soon at a lower price than before.
Can't wait to see OLED TVs continue getting cheaper 🙂

Me neither! ALL the tech we have atm is really bad for black levels so your dark scenes in games look dreadful. Also colours look bad and washed out compared to CRT.

These are the ones to beat:

No Samsung LED can do better image picture than these LG OLED displays.
Some Plasma enthusiasts are even going towards these displays now.

i dont need to use google or read reviews, as long as samsung doesnt pay me, i dont care.
so far i have yet to see a samsung that doesnt cost twice compared to a sony/LG and that actually looks better with same content.
that fact it took them 3y to improve their color banding (vs. sony/lg) shows how "good" their tv's are...

I'd throw one more thing in against Samsung...
one of my house mates repairs non-functioning flat screen TV's and he has repeatedly shown me where Samsung (over all the other main brands) have a habit of using the cheapest possible components to get the job done. Sometimes even using parts that are rated below the required spec !
These cheapout component selections Samsung make have very often been the cause of their screens failing just outside of their warranty periods.
Personally I used to hold Samsung with some decent regard in my mind, but that has been somewhat dented by the extremely regular use of cheap components in their flat screen TVs.
