Where is the 2TB option for the Pro?

Probably hard to put 2TB of MLC on a onesided 2280 M.2 stick. EVO saves space by using TLC.

So... We can expect reviews from both units? The EVO and the PRO versions? On topic... I think my last SSD from Samsung was the 850 EVO, which is still a sata 3 unit... New motherboard has the m2 slot, but the price was always "a little too much" for me to justify the upgrade.

Yes, with a bit of luck the 970 EVO today (just came in and is running benchies). The 970 PRO will arrive likely tomorrow or the day after. So at the end of the week, I hope to have that one ready. The Pro model will be hard to justify die to its price though.

Samsung skipped it, only the EVO gets a 2TB model.

I just got a 960 EVO. So sad to hear this.

How is this even legal? They promised IEEE1667/Microsoft Edrive from the start for the Samsung 960 EVO and Pro and we still don't have a working implementation. We finally got a half-baked solution with the latest firmware, but it doesn't work with boot-drives so it's mostly useless for 99% of us. Now we have a new series where we supposedly have working IEEE1667/Microsoft Edrive from the get-go? Like seriously?

Don't be. It seems that the performance difference is negligible, but the power consumption is quite a bit worse than the 960 EVO. So basically it's just a way to catch up to the WD Black / Sandisk Extreme SSD, but failed to deliver on the power part. Personally I'd go with the WD/Sandisk, since the performance difference is minimum, but the power consumption is way ahead of Samsung.

Pricing on these drives is quite reasonable given their reliability and solid performance. I don't care if they aren't the cheapest or fastest in raw numbers if they just work when you use them. Simplicity is worth a lot these days.
