yeah, let me sit 100m away because of large screen and low res, when most others offer 8K at +85in

how many meters away were you sitting when you had a 42" fhd tv ?

Needs 8K at that size...

According to a display sitting distance calculator, you should get good visual acuity at this resolution when sitting about 2m away. That's not that far away for a display this large.
Powered by a 4K Neural Quantum processor, the television utilizes artificial intelligence to augment upscaling capabilities, improving depth and sharpness perception
You know it's a hard sell when they use basically every single buzzword they can in a single sentence, and whatever the hell "improving depth ... perception" means on a flat screen that from what I can tell doesn't use any cameras or sensors to track you.

@GlassGR never, as for me, FHD stops at 24in size for monis, and 32in for tvs... @schmidtbag i had 85s as one of the main displays in my SIS for +2y, and no, at 2m distance 85in is the limit (screen door effect), at least for me.

At these sizes for most people's wall space in their homes, 4k is good enough. When you sit close to an 8k display that is at a size able to make a difference in clarity compared to 4k at the distance you are viewing, you're going to be moving your head to see all parts of the screen. In summary, the peripheral viewing experience will require more user engagement at 8k than at 4k.

i bought lots of tvs and sold lots ,lots of them 🙂 people tend to want more numbers and not actual results. if there was a 100k tv today ,same comments would occur. if there was no more than fhd ,same people would buy an 85" FHD TV with no problem. You know why ? Because there would be no alternative. "yes but pixels look like cinder blocks, well that's all i can have, its OK"

With my astigmatism I’ll be able to sit 60cm from it and still get a good ppi. Considering my eyes are quadrupling the pixels. Got myself an integrated 8k DLSS upscaler up on these bad boys.

@Mda400 lol, wut? ignoring that we can move our eyes (so the head doesnt have to), the same way i can move a spoon to my mouth (with my hand), and not bend my whole body down to the dish to eat a soup, i use a 50 in at 2-3ft as moni, and have no trouble playing games incl shooters, and only sit 3-4ft away when watching movies because i want to lean back in my chair, not because im "too close" or so that i dont have to move my head (havent in 1y of use). and: min/max proper seating distance is related to ppi (not just simply the res), the problems is, you have to sit at the upper end of the range using large 4k to not see a screen door effect, while it can be the min distance at 8K, so i can be closer or a larger screen WITHOUT losing the detail in pixel squares. and yes, that's from (my) experience using a 85" UHD at 6ft for almost a year at work.

I wouldn't buy a Samsung tv ever again - had to send my 65inch "QD-OLED" back, because the tv was bent...cheap plastics aplenty, and the whorehouse must've stack it horizontally, which bent the godamn tv. Bad bad bad bad...experience

@Loobyluggs still love how the (US) marketing for years was talking about no burn in etc, even applying stickers to the tvs, just because sony/lg (only oled brands my stores had) where selling like stupid, and then quietly turning around and offering oleds, no mentioning of BI/IR or panel brightness degradation..

Oh, you mean the QLED's? QLED's are fine, I'm talking the QD-OLED, which was an OLED, but with their own additional light source for the rear. The image quality was fine, just, the tv is designed like this: P = Panel R = Rear Box B = Bend Point/Pinch PPPPPPPPBPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPBPPPPPPPPP

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Now then, if the TV is horizontally stacked in the manner illustrated above, then the Panel will have a 'pinch' mark in the screen where the weight of the panel overlaps the dimensions of the Rear Box. This is what was explained to me, and the 'pinch' was visible from the top of the tv all the way down the font of the panel upon viewing and, was purely down to cheap plastics being used. If I were to hold the top right or top left corner between my thumb and forefinger and 'wiggle', the whole tv would bend and flex. Terrible design, just terrible - yet, the picture was very clean. It's also now, why their tvs are designed like this:
https://images.samsung.com/is/image/samsung/p6pim/uk/qe65s95catxxu/gallery/uk-oled-tv-qe65s95catxxu-r-side-black-titanium-535995233?$684_547_PNG$
With the Rear Box as a separate entity

no no, did mean (QLED) OLED they didnt offer before. lol, yeah, seen it already 2y ago when they started cheaping out, while ppl still believe the "selling the most", until i explained (potential) customers most doesnt equal "best" (picture).
