Costs way too much. At that price (750 € for S7 here in Finland) one would expect it to have USB-C.
what u saying make USB-C alone worth like few hundred bucks lol although it always better equipped with latest tech USB-C is just nice addition, but with limited storage 64/128GB + SDcard, it doesnt need speedy transfer rate beside without user-replaceable battery the device will last like 3years before battery capacity drop below 60% yes u can keep using it if u dont mind short active time its fake reason from maker to sell phone without user replaceable battery saying for elegance/esthetic design they just want user replacing phone early

Well, in current phones USB-C is a gimmick, as it's only USB 2.0 inside. The only USB 3.0 phones that I know are Note 3 and S5. And with the new phones, it's hard to tell which one is better - native 2.0 or 2.0 with C connector. Just now, the old connector gives you better compatibility, but I'd expect S8 to feature USB C with 3.0/3.1 inside. The battery on my Note 3 works pretty well after 2 years and 2 months, but I can see it aging. I think that if they opt for battery that you can't swap, they should also release the service price sheet, so you know how much it'll cost to replace and if they're even going to bother. Or they might be some service manual and a possibility to replace it without dealing with any kind of glue. In my case, the phone is still good enough to replace just battery and save some $$$. What I can observe is that more and more people are used to carrying power banks. If someone bought a phone with battery capacity around 2000mAh, and was using it extensively for 2+ years, it may have issues lasting whole day. While this is a workaround, I wouldn't be happy to be forced to use such solution. -- btw, the prices over here in Poland are: S7 - 3199PLN, which is ~ $809 / 734€ S7 Edge - 3599PLN, which is ~ $910 / 826€ It's a bit more than it would be comfortable for me to pay for a phone. I paid roughly a half of the Edge price for my Note 3 pretty soon after release date.

What to do? I can pre order now and get the vr gear included and pay off the phone on my phone bill in monthly installments, but I have the S5 would it be a decent upgrade?

VAt is a bitch a guess.

Well, if I ever decide to ditch my Windows phone, mainly to have access to the gazilion apps android/ios has, I would definitely go for a Samsung.

Well my upgrade was due on my contract so I've pre-ordered the edge. V. Happy the SD card slot is back, and I got the free gear VR deal too which will be fun to play about with! Roll on March 8th delivery.

It's just better connector in every possible way. It's more durable and it doesn't matter how you plug it in. If it's the real deal like in lumias it could open up many possibilities. MicroUSB 2.0 is outdated. It's the same effin connector that my old backup Galaxy S uses. This is supposed to be the flagship phone to rule 'em all. I really don't know what they were thinking. Since I bought Honor 6 about 1,5 year ago I've pretty much decided that anything above 300 € is hardly worth it. There's no way that I would pay almost triple that amount.

cheapest n9005(note 3) back in the days was 500 euro, and now S7 edge is 1000$ in Romania. wtf, with me and wife with 2000$ i could buy an small cheap car. In few years cheapest high end phone will be 2000-2500 euros.... I know my future phone, when my n9005 cant hold on, will be oneplusthree, four etc.300 euros cheaper.

It's an AMOLED screen. The always on is like a couple hundred pixels being lit. It barely effects life at all. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have Type-C. I don't think it's a deal breaker but all the competition has it now and I'd like to see the standard adopted as quickly as possible.
I have USB-C on tablet, and I am disappointed by lack of docking stations/hubs for this port. There are very few and are expensive as hell. (All hail Apple for adopting port for Thunderbolt.) Why I talk about docking stations/hubs? Because 5/10Gbps which would be wasted on connecting just single device. Hell, manufacturers failed to deliver so badly, that there are many kickstarter campaigns for what I call basic functionality devices. @OLED haters: Having night clock on my S6E leads to something around 30% battery drain in one night. Not due to display, but because chip is not properly sleeping. OLED drains energy proportionally to amount light it gives out. So, night clock where most of pixels are OFF and those few which are not are pretty dim eats close to nothing. Feature wise, Samsung probably realized, that they should better give customers what they want as they ask those huge lumps of money. My GearVR, sometimes overheats in 30 minutes, sometimes in 10. Then it goes into low power mode. (Say hello to stutter.) Normal Cinema a most of games are OK in this aspect as they are not GPU/CPU intensive, but many have hard time controlling their resources. So, what would be most important thing for next phone? Chip inside considerably more power efficient than currently owned S6E. And camera... Dual Pixel? Does it means that it already has so high density, that they decided to average/add values from adjacent pixels together based on need? (You know it is cheap and easy way to prevent artifacts in case of minor defect.) But S6 already has best camera I have ever seen. It can record 240fps video incredibly clear. I'll probably not upgrade before S9/SX hits shelves 😀

As an owner of the S6 edge+ I have to say that Samsung has EXCELLENT hardware and quality but TERRIBLE software and support. You will have to wait months before you get a major Android update if you ever take it. You are supposed to have a 2 years support for it but for Samsung its not working like this. For example as we speak the S6 started getting Marshmallow but the rollout its still slow and the S5 and Note 4 have yet to take the update while they are still in the support. Plus they wont even get the new UI. Samsung does not care about supporting your phone after you buy it. Also the TouchWiz performance is terrible for such powerful device. Frame drops, jitters and lags here and there and from the 4GB of ram the 3.5 are taken by the bloatware. Also they promised monthly security updates and at least here in the EU they broke their promise. Most countries did not get them at all. I had to flash another country's firmware to get them. This is lame considering what you are paying for.

Isn't it a chicken and egg problem though? If a major device like the S7 had Type C, there would be a million peripherals for it made overnight. Currently, aside from the recently announced G5, only the N6P and the One Plus 2 have Type-C afaik, both of which aren't really top selling phones. And yeah, hopefully they will bring Type-C Thunderbolt to Android phones/tablets soon. But no one is really going to do it unless one of the major OEM's does it first.

Some nice changes from the S6, Currently I'm using the S6 Edge+ and develop custom roms for it. but Samsung are always so very slow to get major android updates out the door. But its nice to see micro SD slot back and water/dust resistant is brilliant as well. Always love Samsung build quality, and seems to be getting better and better. Hopefully software side of things improves over time. Will be preordering the S7 Edge, I prefer a 5.5inch screen compared to the edge+

$1000 in Canada or $500 with insanely priced 2 year contracts. An artificial base price that's been around since luxury marketed cell phones became a thing plus a weak Canadian dollar equals no new phones for most Canadians. I'm still using my S5 which I've had since its launch and the only reason I even want a new phone is for a bigger screen that has a true resolution (as opposed to the pseudo resolutions of Samsung AMOLEDs). I have no desire for more computing power so the next time I buy a phone (with a large screen) I won't need an upgrade for a long time. At this point I'm just hoping Google releases their next Nexus phone at no more than $500... and hoping it won't use Samsung's reject AMOLEDs.

Come on, hope my S4 will live another year 😛. I've a desktop and laptop computer. I don't need such a fancy phone lol. Does it make Coffee anyway?

After years of holding out and sticking with older phones like the S3 and the HTC One X and sim only plans i eventually gave in while commuting to work today. The screen was smashed on the One X so i had to get something new anyway. £29 upfront cost, and £50 a month for unlimited calls/texts and 10GB of data. Quite a jump from the £15 a month for unlimited calls/texts/data that i am on now, but i needed a new phone/toy 🙂 Just wish i didn't have to wait for it.

Amd samsung prices drop so fast and alot. A fcking htc a9 is more expensive than note 5 now. How on earth this is logical. It was 2900 Turkish Liras. And now 2000. Too much drop. No other company does this in Turkish market. Shame on Samsung for real. Stupid fck. Anyway. And yeah updates are pain. Even my htc m9 got marshmallow officials. I had to use a third world 6.0.1 for my note 5. Besides. Good looking device but software and support is Abit Meh. Still better than all android phones. No alternative for real. Hoping to get s7 edge. If the frame is not as bad as s6 edge.

Checked my o2 contract upgrade, if I pay £170 to upgrade early, and move to a £55 p/m contract, I can have the S7 Edge... Currently on a £28 p/m with an S5

I might need to re-check what i ordered as Vodafone is alot cheaper than anywhere else and cheaper than what is advertised here. http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-release-date-where-can-i-get-it--1315424 Unfortunately the Vodafone site is always having stuff done at this time of night. Just found the confirmation e-mail, i'm quite happy with this even if it does mean a 24 month contract. http://i63.tinypic.com/e8k7jo.png The Samsung VR thing for free is a nice bonus as well.

Just double checked, and it's £51 p/m with £9.99 upfront for the S7 Edge (*Plus £170 for early upgrade) No mention of the VR kit but I only checked with the O2 app Bit steep to almost double my monthly bill atm though, see what December brings when the contract ends EDIT - Carphone warehouse has some decent offers http://i.imgur.com/qyCOt4r.png

Yeah, especially when you already have a good phone. I'm coming from a very old HTC One X that as of a few weeks ago now has this issue lol. http://i65.tinypic.com/ejek5e.jpg I have also been wanting to change networks for a while. 3 are nice and cheap and the unlimited data is good but i have indoor signal issues and have not used more than 4-5gb in a month for over a year now.
