Can you compare the 960 PRO nvme 2.0 driver to the windows driver?
I will do a test now of the NVMe 2.0 driver vs NVMe 1.4.7.17 driver as reported in Magician. I will test it using AS-SSD, Magician and Anvil's Storage. Be back in a bit.

To be honest, its a bit sad that SSD are still hovering around 35-37MB/s @ 4k My 850 pro is like 37 or something. A bit faster than the 960 evo...
Where do you see that? AS-SSD has a picture of 960 pro using windows driver. I've seen 960 pro hit mid 60/mb/s on the NVME Samsung driver. Such a large variation between review sites, probably driver related. https://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/asssd-250gb-960evo.jpg

Damn that's fast! Here's mine to compare. https://s18.postimg.org/aba3s1x09/1_22_Copy.png https://s18.postimg.org/5b826d1zt/1_1_Copy.png I also tested NVMe driver v1.4.7.17 vs 2.0.0.1607 and performance is nearly identical.

Guru3D review says 35.64MB/s for the 960 Evo 1TB. However, I am definitely not looking to buy the 960 Pro because its more expensive. But yes, there is a large variation, I do hope its driver related.

Something I've been wondering: Why don't they mitigate heat in some way if the drive might have to throttle due to heat?

No check again. HH has the 960 Pro in that picture of AS-SSD. Maybe he forgot to change the pictures. I Posted that above picture to prove it depends on review, the 950 evo will do 50mb/s +

Ya I noticed that. I thought he tested the 960 evo but selected the 960 pro afterwards accidentally. However, I just tried and that would erase the total score... So its definitely the 960 pro =\

Hey interesting, I didn't notice that. I just re-installed the EVO again and rechecked it. The 960 EVO is being reported as PRO mode in some benchmarksl. Don't ask me why though ... you''ll notice the same tag in Anvil, this however IS the EVO at work (you can tell / match with the 1B7Q tag similar in the LR screenshot).
