haste:

Just imagine overclockable 7950X3D or 7800X3D.
I have a feeling AMD had plenty of motivation to keep the 5800X3D locked down now that we see how Raphael compares. I use the app called PBO2 Tuner to basically strangle the 5800X3D, reducing its voltage curves to the lowest allowed value, and heavily restricting both wattage and current as well... the result is 10C+ lower temps and higher sustained clocks (at least 200MHz higher in artificial stress tests). This chip obviously has a good amount of headroom. I wish boards aside from halo luxury ones had external clock generators so at least baseclock OCs were possible. They promised they wouldn't artificially lock down the next series of chips. We'll see.

good to see some confirmation of what lisa su said about am4 sticking around , might still see some more x3d variants of zen3 after all.

Ah, I like the sound of this, may be enough to spur me on to upgrade my 6700K!

No new information here, move along.

So the rumors were real. Nice.

If China doesn't take Taiwan next month and nukes haven't start falling....

Sad but true. 🙁

And if some uncaught asteroid doesn't f' us up even before then. Or a random quantum field fluctuation creates a black hole in the center of earth, killing us within minutes. If we're making plans like these, you better get off your PC and head to your shelter right away. No more PC for you 😀

Looking forward to these, however, it would be great if they came with ECO mode by default...

The translation from the image: AMD gives easter egg on the last event, which is interesting to be disseminated. But please wait, we would like to take some time to sleep.

This next gen 7xxxX3D CPU is at the top of my list in the absence of a new Intel HEDT CPU. Ideally it would have as many PCIe lanes available to the slots, but you get the best of what's available. My i7-5960X is 8 yo and it kind of showed after pairing it with an RTX 3080.

I'll be waiting on this, currently on a 5950x and a 7900X3D would be the upgrade I'd go for. 12 super fast cores with all that yummy cache, give me now!

Well, this might be the obvious gamer's choice. But I already have 5800x3d so I'll probably skip this generation.

I really hope that they release 7900x3d but problably only 8 core version is relased because of the high temps or they are dropping frequency over 1000mhz. I have 5800x3d myself and the temps are very high allready without the pbo2 tuner software so amd really need to bin those versions much better or getting a revised stepping.

If they got a hang on the voltage issues with the first 3d CPU perhaps they should release a higher clocked 5800x for AM4 too. Lots of people who do not want to pay a lot to change to a more expensive platform.

congrats on keeping it this long ! had one too - if you care about lanes don't even look at Intel, I have a 12900k it's a single pcie slot chipset I can't use the gen5 m.2 or it disables pcie_2 and halves the bandwith of pcie_1 it's horrible - 5950x+ X570 was clearly better pcie slots wise I could use two while keeping the gpu x16 - 7950x I will see on my motherboard, infos aren't clear if the gen5 m.2 messes with the pcie slots lanes (they definitely go x8 with 2 cards tough, the msi I want is x16 x0 x4 or x8 x8 x4) - 13th gen I didn't check X790 but since cpus are compatible with my Z690 I don't see how it could change much and z690 manages to be worse than Z390 (those m.2 ports steal all the bandwith) and yes I can confirm that rtx 3080-90 need fast cpus, in shadow of the tomb raider after upgrading the cpu the game went from cpu limited to gpu limited but you don't need an ultra recent pc to change that a i9 9900k will feed your 3080 no problem (no lanes tough)
