I am still running i7 3770K, so this will be a worthy upgrade for me I think.

So will the price be the same as before on the new Ryzen? I have the money now to upgrade and being so close for zen 2 I wonder if I schould just wait it out.Almost picked-up a R 1700 Today actually.

Will be keeping my 1700 and wait for Zen 2...still have my FX 8350 sitting here on my desk...it lasted for years 😉

Looks like the new Ryzens might get closer to Broadwell-E in terms of gaming performance, but still not catch it. No way they get close to 8700K or any other 8000 series chip for gaming or mostly anything else really besides rendering. Not a chance. 8700K can be bought for $350 now with board at under $200. They'd have to pay enthusiast gamers to use them over the Intel 8000 series chips. Just sayin. What's true is true.
AMD needs another HUGE JUMP in performance to catch Intel because now AMD is still going to use mesh based CPU's which probably still won't clock very well to try and catch a ring bus based 8700K at around 5ghz? Nope.

Zen2 might catch up with Intel. Depends how well Cannonlake will perform. Intel probably makes a move this year, AMD follows in 2019.

Sorry to burst your bubble, i'm gaming with a GTX 1080 ti and a Ryzen 1700x with @1440p and 144hz monitor with zero FPS issues.
The only people who claim that Ryzen is not good for gaming are people who don't understand what "gaming" is. Is it true under very specific circumstances that people do not game at, that Intel can, but not all the time, be higher FPS? Sure, but if you care about 140fps vs 160fps, then you're not gaming, you're just caring about numbers that at that point are meaningless.
There is literally zero issues i have had with gaming at 70+fps, and quite often at 120fps+, at max settings, anyone complaining about that is spewing nonsense. And the only way i'd feel the "affect" of this "issue" is if i were to lower my settings and lower my resolution to settings i would never use, all so i can complain that my very low resolution and very low settings on a GTX 1080 ti and ryzen are not getting 200fps, but rather 170fps. Boo hoo?
Oh, i get it, me with my 1300+ games on steam, let alone gog, origin, uplay, etc., i'm not an enthusiast gamer, got it, makes sense.
Nor are any of the people i have built Ryzen systems for that were worried about ryzen not performing because of posts like yours, who now have absolutely no clue why anyone would claim ryzen is bad at gaming, and couldn't be happier for their very snappy, more cores, less cost, systems. They must not be "enthusiast gamers" either.
LOL totes makes sense brah!

^ So true.

Looks nice and I would like to make an upgrade from my i5 4670k, but man the prices on the memory. Not to mention that I really need to change the gpu as well, and the prices on those are absolutelly absurd.
But I guess that by the next year I would really need to switch to more cores whatever the price.

@Aura89 Well said.
In fact, gaming on even a R5 1500x feels better then when I had my 3930k@ 4.1.
I even had a i7 3820(2600k) @ 4.5ghz and this cpu feels better even only @ 3.75ghz
Same R9 Fury I had with the 3930k, and monitor. But overall, the entire rig is smoother.

I think Intel marketing attracts people. On twitch many streamers have Intel banner, and they do say good things about Intel.
So obviously people who got "brainwashed" by Intel ads will try to blindly protect it.
However difference does exists if we remove GPU bottleneck. Would that difference be an issue for a gamers, its up for them to decide.

New benchmarks are online, also 2700x has max boost up to 4.35GHz, so 2800x should have 4.45 or even 4.5GHz
