That's a lot considering Zen2 already had quite higher IPC than intel's offerings. But that is to be expected since Zen2 => Zen3 move is not just some number iteration, but actual improvement in architecture.

Hopefully they can bring the 16 core price to 500 USD? But that will depend on Intel answer, if they have any. My 2600 is doing great, I'll wait for R5000 so I can see R4000 price drop. These last 2 years were very interesting, if only Randeon would step up their game a bit...

We can expect the new 12 core CPU if there is one, to be close to what's a 16 core CPU Zen2. But due to better silicon, i guess that we can expect these processors to maintain higher clocks speeds for higher periods of time. if my 3900x clocks at 4.150/4.1Ghz at Stock then a similar CPU would clock around the 4.250 to 4.350 mark this is all multicore and in Single-core performance might sustain it highest clock most of the time just like the 2700x did with PE enable.

That would be quite impressive if these rumors are true. If it weren't for the firmware issues and over-ambitious clocks, Zen2 had already exceeded most people's expectations. Granted, Zen2 still doesn't beat Intel in every regard, so, as long as Intel's aging architecture is still winning in some situations, AMD still has work to do. The only tricky part is, there's only so much AMD can do about the latency situation.

Intel still wins or is on-par in cases where latency matters, which for the most part is games, particularly those that are CPU-bound. That also in turn makes Intel a more ideal choice for robotics, though, I personally would advocate for ARM over Intel when it comes to robots, since ARM has even better latency (especially when it comes to inter-core communication) and lower power consumption. AMD wins where total duration and performance-per-watt matters (which is basically everything else not yet mentioned). EDIT: Oh yeah Intel also wins at AVX512, but... that's pretty niche.

It feels like it's ready for another June release date but earlier estimates were end of next year. I really hope these puppies come sooner than later. Keeping ahead of Intel for a while pushing them out of the market for a bit to re-establish the AMD name as high performance and gather more market share. Will do us good as consumers later on.

Adobé as well. For now it like the frequency that the Intel parts can run at. But really it’s that and games. Intel will likely lose that after the end of 2020 then they will be fully in catch up mode.

50% FPU sounds like SIMD improvements, which is nice and all, but limited to applications that make use of it. Which is why average IPC numbers that factor in SIMD seem flawed. But 10% integer is still respectable, and would affect a large majority of software.

Let's wait and see. For now, I am just amazed with what my 3700X is capable of. But if I will be able to upgrade to an even powerful processor, well, I think we all are spoiled.

games on cpu side (physics, IA, or just simple things like camera projections , etc), every multimedia software like enconding and decoding audio, pictures and videos, scientifics software.. oh the calculator.. yeah very limited, specially since the x87 FPU is no more used outside legacy 32-bit software or ad hoc intrinsics calls on 64-bit software. PS: the SIMD instructions cover both FP and integer operations.
