Bro...it has six cores and multi-threaded performance also jumps by just over 51 percent over 7700K ....its gonna cost more/ if it only cost $320-350....then AMD is screwed again...and all ryzen buyers will say....?
Ryzen buyers would say: Oh, that's cute, you got a 6c/12t processor for $320+. Well, i got a 6c/12t processor for $220-$250, and could have gotten an 8c/16t processor for that price.

Lol^....enthusiast could care less about $75/125...as long as it kicks butt....AMD has had many 6/8 core processors for years....They just slow...The 8700k is gonna truly shake things up if it is priced @$300/320. Trust me....your 6c/12t processor from AMD will be slower than a 8700K...By a lot too.

Gaming likely yes but don't sell the Ryzen short. It really is a good processor.

Agree^....But but the 8700k could be a game changer if the price is right.,,, Think about it...intel ain't stupid.

I don't think Intel can get near multi-core cost performance of Ryzen. They gotta solve that with Cannonlake. What works for Intel is IPC. Gaming benchmarks still favors Intel and that what matters for gamers. If Intel not stupid, it should at least maintain it's IPC, otherwise there no reason to get Intel CPU over Ryzen. Not like Intel cares about gamers, but we shall see what it got to offer.

Of course it should be faster then 1600x considering it has higher clocks and IPC should be 6-10% better. 7800x and 6800k might be good reference points when those are overclocked. What AMD does currently better is simultaneous multi threading then Intel, I don't think there will be much change with these new ones. What changed the game was Ryzen, 8700k is just a continuation of that. 8700k most likely is same or higher price then 7700k was. Ryzen owners won't say anything they have had the 6-8 core processors for a while now already. They know in single core it simply lacks because of the lower frequencies, also they do have upgrade path next year. Can't really compare to old 6-8 core AMD processors these new ones either because these are way way faster.

It's far from "close". But still good perf. from a rebranded i5 🙂

Lets just wait for gamming benchmarks.. coz I think 4C/4T vs 4C/8T performance will be more different in gamming.

Yes, it will be slower, definitely, that's a given considering the frequency difference. However, that being said, enthusiasts have budgets. Not everyones budgets are the same, so this idea that $75/125 would mean nothing, is nonsense. Maybe for you, it's nonsense, but you're not everyone.

This "peasant" i3 is faster than my 4.5Ghz overclocked 5820K 474SC & 2775MC (HT:OFF) in 1.80.1. Im defiantly moving to i7-8700K with delid and WC its going to overclock like crazy.
Is voiding warranty in 1st few days worth it? It would not be for me. Depending on pricing, people can easily opt for 8C/16T Ryzen, or go directly for TR with platform under chip doubled for all productivity stuff.
