Just 8%!?...

10% more cuda cores. It has wider memory bus and more vram but that wont be noticed that much at 1440p as much as it will at 4k. I expect it to be behind 7900xt in raster.

Well, it would kind of compromise the 4080 S otherwise, which is barely any faster than the normal 4080 (it's gonna be like 2% higher perf vs non-S.)

Makes sense. They couldn't have it match or beat the 4080, let alone get close to the 4080S. The 4070TiS is just your slightly less capable 4080 for $200 less. Was always going to be that.

Funny, i was expecting better...

Hoping for better, sure. Expecting? With Nvidia? Good joke :P

Cant wait to hear that 4070ti Super is what 4070ti what should have been from the start. Wait, where did i hear that before? lol 😀

As long as it sticks close to MSRP then it's still worth the discount over the regular 4080 and 4080S. Still a bit sad it's not more like the 3080 which was often pretty close to the 3080 12GB and 3080 Ti

I think this card is primarily aimed at anyone who hasn't upgraded from a 2070S/2080S/Ti yet. Most people who had the money already upgraded to a 4070Ti or the 4080 last year and will likely wait a year for Blackwell. This isn't very attractive to Ampere peeps either, imo.

Yeah I suspect at 1440p or lower (or if you use DLSS) a good chunk of the extra CUDA cores and extra VRAM bandwidth go unused. Plus they have the same 48MB L2 cache. Could change in the future if games get more shader and vram-bound

True, but in their marketing for this they're actually mentioning the uplift over the 3070 Ti. I'm still torn about upgrading to this from my regular 3070 or just wait for the 5070 (hopefully that'll have at least 16GB VRAM too)

Well, yeah, they want us upgrading every year, but realistically I feel these are Turing replacements. Corresponding Amperes still have enough juice in them to last another 12 months. The only thing that would make me pull the trigger on these as an Ampere replacement is if Blackwell were to release mid-2025. I don't think Nvidia will wait that long. I think we'll see Blackwell by Christmas.

wait it not that big of upgrade from a 3070. i torn cause that 1070ti i have really cant cope anymore with new games. but there is also no way i paying $800 for a xx70ti card and $600 for xx70 card is huge stretch too. I still game at 1080p IF i cant get DSR to work in game i will run 1440p which is stretch for new games less it has FSR hell 1080p is stretch forget about my uncles 1050ti that even do 1080p @ 60 most games from ps4 era

Not so sure about xmas as a release for Bwell. There's no sign of pressure at all from AMD so why would they care? Marketshare won't change as long as AMD keeps shooting blanks.

Yeah. Drivers and/or the games themselves just don't want to utilize old GPUs to their fullest. Modern games might show 99% GPU use, but if I look at the power consumption, I see like 130W-170W draw and lower temps. It's like half the silicon stays unused. Fire up a game from a couple years ago and it goes near 250W. Old GPUs age really poorly. They become way slower than they actually are.

they all age poorly compared to how much thing advanced. I wonder how poor my geforce 2 mx or TNT2 or my 6800gt card would fair if i had pc i put it. then again find driver for them would next to impossible, much like my 3dfx voodoo 2 if there was version of DLSS that didnt need tesla cores that work universal i would probably be using cause i dont current gpu price. NIS dont cut it in fact is trash would use FSR but game has to support it in first place

There's an injector that unlocks the DLSS option for all GPUs but replaces it with FSR. I used it in a few games.

I think you're taking too narrow of a view here. Sure, AMD are lagging behind, but you always want to maintain (and extend) your competitive advantage. Besides, they will have new chips for their workstation and datacenter lines regardless of what happens in the gaming space. I imagine a lot will depend on how these refreshes sell and how many older GPUs remain in the pool. A new arch always incentivizes the stragglers. All that said - you could very well be right, and they could sit on this refresh for a while longer than usual. As always, we can only speculate.
