Bit of a wait for the Ti... dang. Ah well, won't be wanting it until I get a 4k 144hz monitor, praying for a 32 inch... 😉 NV really should just remove the xx80 from the lineup and only have the xx80ti as their high-end card. The xx80 could just be the xx70 instead. Rearrange some performance and cuda cores and poof everyone gets an upgrade. Wishful thinking I guess.

Denial:

Unless they put something in the hardware of the cards to deter miners or artificially inflate the upfront cost of cards with game rebates, which I wouldn't mind as a way to combat them. As for the why not 'Volta' thing - i think its more than just HBM2, which Pascal also had, and Tensors - which can be stripped. The entire scheduler on Volta GV100 is oriented towards compute and away from gaming. TSMC's 12nmFF+ 7.5T that Nvidia dubs "FFN" is optimized for large reticule size, the 12nmFF+ 6.5T process is optimized towards lower power and/or higher clockspeeds, gaming chips will most likely utilize this process. GV100 also contains a number of FP64 cores that will most likely be stripped for a gaming variant. I'm also kind of curious if Nvidia supports FP16v2 on "Ampere" gaming variants similar to AMD's FP16 support in Vega - Pascal GP100 supported 16v2 in it's FP32 cores but I don't know how those cores fair in gaming scenarios - optimization might have been done there. I think for a while Nvidia could have kept similar architecture names for compute/gaming but there at the point now where both sectors need specific optimizations and that's why they are splitting the name. There are going to be a ton of differences between Volta Compute and Volta Gaming (Ampere) or whatever it ends up being called.
combat your main crowd? It used to be gamers get like10% of the top GPU line, now miners take all they can get. Combat the miners? It's a company, not a buddy. Get your delusions into order 🙂 they can screw the memory, or update CUDA once again and kill the mining on some cards from previous gen, but I don't see it happening. FPS vs MHs well..MHs is getting them more money.

My guess is crypto won't last. Then there will be so many cards on Ebay for cheap.

At best GTX 2060 is as fast as GTX 1070. Even that is a bit much expected. This is definetly not a jump like from Maxwell to Pascal, this is a typical refresh process.
data/avatar/default/avatar28.webp
My guess is that the 2080 will be roughly 15-25 % faster than 1080 ti, just as the 1080 and 980 was 15-25 % faster than the 980 ti and 780 ti. I will preorder a custom cooled 2080, and then when 2080 ti comes, preorder a custom cooled one of those.

I agree. Also, I can see the 2080 getting about 1080Ti speeds, but not the 2070. The GA102/2080Ti though should be quite a lot faster than the 2080, at least 50% more shaders (if used or not in the gaming version).

Also Will Nvidia also Release a 2070 Ti like they did with the 1070 Ti? To me they could but that would depend on what does AMD have to offer?

I think they brought the 1070Ti to get rid of chip stock. I'm not sure it will become a thing every generation.

I can not imagine any company hating selling their products as soon as they come out. But if they say they support miners they will have a sea of angry gamers , if they slam talk the miners well miners don't care they will buy regardless
When Crypto go belly up they wont have the miners to buy their product anymore, so they should really be taking care of the people that float their company long term and that base is gamers and pc builders. Keep ignoring your base audience Nvidia, AMD the gamers have long memories. My gut feeling is Nvidia is laying low on the new cards to avoid protracted bad press on the subject of pricing and scarcity of their gpu's. Pretend it isn't happening and you have plausible deniability seems to be their game plan. Not so, many a pissd off gamer out there, with elephant memories. *BTW anybody looking for a gtx1080 there is one on u.s. e-bay for $590, guess the guy doesn't know the value, item # 302633926169 As of 2/10/18 7:52 a.m. east coast time*

Depends what nvidia wants the 1070 was around the same performance of as 980ti within a few margins of error. Though if this is just a refresh then I doubt the cards will be much stronger 5-10% maybe with better thermals and voltages. If it is new architecture then I could see similar jumps to what we see each year, around 15-20% give to take a few % Personally I’ll just wait for the 2080ti that will most likely come out in 2019, unless they don’t bring one out as this could just be a stepping stone for Volta by that point

Don't Nvidia usually bring out the Titan first, and then the Ti ? (They may have had the Ti out first once before, but that was an aberration iirc).

I went from a GTX 780 to a GTX 1080 and saw a quantum leap in performance. 😀 For the sake of my wallet, I try not to upgrade my GPU every year - only if the performance merits an upgrade. As such, I'll probably sit out the 20 series, which is just as well since the miners will buy them all anyways 😛
I went from a 780 @1440p to a 1080Ti@ 4k. Il not be even thinking of upgrading for a couple of years at least, if new games suddenly become significantly more demanding, ilrun them on my 1440p monitor.

Maybe that Nvidia learned from their mistakes with the 1070 and make the 2070 at least 20-30% faster than a 1070 Ti.

the gtx 1080 has gone up to £750 here,
And i thought i was a bit mental paying 695 for my 1080Ti FE from Amazon UK on release day, bargain now.

I really hope I can actually get my hands on a new card at MSRP if these release rumors are true. I was hoping to get a 1070 Ti but I foolishly decided to wait a bit and now they're all double the normal price.

If its released in April, I'd wait until then, and we should have plenty of info before launch, for you to make a decision on Day-1 🙂

Reading about launch of new Server CPU I am not going to buy is exciting. But it misses that anticipation of actual product hitting shelves. This feels very same. Not because I do not buy nVidia's GPUs. But because I expect we'll have trouble to buy any :/ At least both AMD and nVidia are still pushing things forward. As companies are not forced to improve if anything they make is instantly sold.

Amazon is your friend, well at least in the UK, they had a bucket load of 1080Ti FE on launch day cheaper than the other e-tailers.

The Etailers I use make sure there is stock for gamers on launch day, and I wouldn't be surprised to se more of them do the same, so I wouldn't worry about being able to buy one then. Afterwards, maybe not.

Well, for AMD, selling everything they can make is like "Yaaaaaay, money, we have money to do things, yaaaay", and for Nvidia its like "Hmmmm, there might be some more space to stash that cash in the overhead storage. Or there might be space in the basement, if thats not already full.". Nvidia's had money for some time, AMD is only just getting into the Black. They both want to innovate, and show what they can do, and will do so. If Ampere does come out in April, as in available on the shelves, the we should get some info in not too long about it.
