The article said "costed" and that always sounds weird to me. Other than that, the same people who pay $999 for a processor will probably pay $1500 for one.

I'm interested to see the performance but I have a feeling it isn't going to be that impressive relative to the price, we'll see I guess 🙂

more intrested in pricing of the 6820k or what ever is replacing the 5820k and what it performance is
fantaskarsef
It's 10 cores with HT. No wonder Intel puts the premium extra shiny golden price tag on it.
Matt26LFC
Not surprised it'll cost more tbh, be totally worth it to those who actually need more cores for productivity. Or if you want to break some benching world records
fantaskarsef
If you need the cores themselves for a workstation, I think people actually go for the Xeons. In my opinion it's just for kicks and people that want to have the fastest 10 core.

Businesses don't care about price as long as a faster CPU saves them time.

And of course if it is just for a gaming rig you would be better off with the faster individual cores of Core i7-6850K @ 3,6GHz instead of the 3GHz of top one, since most games will only be using less than 4 cores.

cowie
they will pay for it and I am taking a guess it will clock like crap
GeniusPr0
Unless they make some tweaks, it will clock like absolute crap. 5960x will go up in price if so.
Undying
i7 5775c was clocking like crap and still beat higher clocked 4790k. This is looking to be a absolute beast.

I don't doubt this one bit. As mentioned already, the people paying 1k will pay another $500 to have latest & greatest "shiny".
ScoobyDooby
I would love to throw this into a couple systems here for the Visual FX guys.. they would salivate over this beast for sure.
Neo Cyrus
Well $1K would make too much sense, it has 10 cores. Gotta charge that premium.
Dragondale13
An Intel 10 core with HT for $1500 USD is fair for that segment I think.
LesserHellspawn
500 more for two more physical cores and probably less overclocking headroom ? No thanks. My current 8 cores will last a long time, and clock nicely.
Solfaur
I was kind of interested in the 8 core IF the top dog 6950X would have have taken the current 5960X position price wise, but if this rumor turns out to be true, then well, no thanks.
