My Asus GTX Titan has 6GB ram. I wonder how it will handle 4K resolutions?

i'm just glad there's gonna be another titan. was a big fan of the first and still am.

Badly, not enough power.

nothing atm has the power πŸ˜€ that is for sure. 790 might do it and sli/xfire configurations for sure. But lets wait for next amd and then nvidias maxwell for that ^^

Surely the milks off by now :P

It's been converted to powdered milk. πŸ˜€

I'm saving money for the GTX 790 Ti "Black Edition"...:) If they will have this cards now it means that 20nm Maxwell is far away.

Interesting. I'm wondering why they are not releasing a dual titan on one card like the 790 but maybe that is just silly and not needed or it could affect the cost of the card making it more than 1000 bucks.

Would probably cost $1999 ! :P

Now this is some last minute GK110 milking right there, that beeing said the 790 does look rather nice with the 5 GB vram sweetspot and the hefty gpu power. I will most certainly not go for 2x780TI BE, as that would cost obscenely high, but the 790 is damn tempting (even though I realise it will also cost a lot lol). πŸ™‚

There's no way Nvidia will be giving double GK110 and 10 gigs of vram for $1000. And it's pointless if that 10 gigs is only effectively 5 because it's an SLI. On the other hand replacing the $1000 Titan with something better for the same price is something I will welcome even though I dislike those money grubbers.
??? 5GB per GPU is still more than 4GB per GPU. Oh I forgot only AMD gets praised for raising the bar.

Yep, the 790 will be ~$1300-1500 with those specs and as much as I love my Titans, I won't be duped into spending $1000 per card again (Titan Black) and then have them release something comparable in a month or two for almost half the price. This is clearly a case of Nvidia milking Kepler for all it's worth. Maxwell isn't far off so investing heavily in year old technology is not the prudent course of action imho.

wow thats gonna be insanely expensive :pc1:

Dual GPU cards need a good balance between power/temperature, they probably found that with using 2496 cores. Makes the 790 a better price/performance card compared to 2x780's.
Hilbert hinted at the 780Ti's being used with this from the article :
It is very likely that product will get two 780 Ti GPUs e.g. full GK110 cores with 4992 Cuda Cores, 416 TMUs and 80 ROPs.
Which are not the specs for two 780Ti's. πŸ™‚ The only way it'll get two 780Ti cores, is if they allow an Uber mode, with 3x8pin connectors, and a dual GPU version of the Titan cooler, quality-wise. It would also be prohibitively expensive, more than $1000 I would expect. If they also enabled DP, that might make it worth it, but they probably wouldn't.

Dunno where they got the 4992 cores from, that's an odd number :/

YES... MUST... RESIST...the temptation! πŸ€“ Maxwell high end gpu will be out most likely late summer/autumn, hell maybe even earlier if AMD puts something up, or lets Mantle spice things up a little. :eyebrows:

I may just grab a 790 and then wait for a maxwell refresh. If they do come with 5gb then ill probably buy another later on as 5gb is more than enough at 2560*1440. I wont be going 4k until they hit 120hz, until that day comes 4k is nothing but vapourware too me.

There's just no point, I'll probably pick up a couple of 290Xs for my second box but there is no way I'm giving Nvidia anymore money for what is essentially the same technology a year later, they can go play in traffic. I've been fairly tolerant of Nvidia's quite obvious greed but now it is starting to get on my nerves. Why are we getting what will likely be 2 $1000+ Kepler cards with Maxwell right around the corner? I'll gladly spend money on Maxwell but these endless refreshes are just taking the Michael imho. I will say this, if the rumors about the 5GB of VRAM per GPU on the 790 are true then it should be a real screamer.
