34ms seems a lot for a 240hz monitor. Where all those ms get lost? something get lost in mouse polling, but that easily go up to 1000hz, and all the rest?

E sport games are not very demanding, PCs will have no issue feeding those 360 FPS in full HD, you missing the point completely. Have you read more than the title? I doubt it

Love it how monitor makers can still find ways to push dirt cheap TN 1080p LCD panels as top of the line gaming monitors. Also.. cheap plastics + aggressive design = big profit margins

You are right to doubt, but I don`t need to read an article to make a joke. PS "ROG" means "Republic Of Gamers" (as I take it), so I doubt that ASUS aimed that monitor to e-sportsmen. Just a marketing push/attempt. PPS As I recall I already argued with some gurus that the jump from 144Hz to 240Hz is noticeable only in theory (where all involved components and pipelines work without issues). And I will repeat: you will never convince me that average gamer can gain from 240Hz and 360Hz.

I agree with this. Jumping beyond 144Hz and arguing that there is a noticeable difference is just a placebo-effect. You can technically measure a difference, but you can't feel nor see a difference with a human body anymore. Even people with very good and trained eyes are having trouble to notice a difference at this range, so I don't get this e-sports trashtalk at all. Usually esports gamers don't benefit from very high refresh rates but a very low input-lag.

It's not just the "TN" method of the panel, because some TN-Panels can be build with decent to great quality too. However, the panels Asus is putting into their monitors have more likely issues such as banding, colour-banding, backlight-bleeding, clouding etc.

The average gamer doesnt need a gain over 144fps. And honestly. Id rather play 3440x1440 100hz then 1440p 144hz or 1080p 240hz. 100hz is more then enpugh for me, and I prefer the visual quality.

You will never feel the difference. If you see more things, if you occupy bigger content of the game, you should really win more games. It is simple logic. 4K 120 is better than 1440p 240 which is better than 1080p 360. Some times is more important to spot the enemy first than responding quicker.

You also seem to forget to push 4k 120 you would need a beefy machine maybe more so than 1080p 360 Dependant on the e sport title. There is a reason lots of pro gamers still use 720p and 1080p screens. Hz matters more than it looking pretty. This screen is not aimed for the average gamer, it's for the pro scene. We have other 1000 monitors to pick from depending on your needs. It's a shame it's a TN panel, but they are the panels that can push the most frames right now

Dota2... I think it's more in the line of first person shooter where it matters the most, it will even matter for our old eyes, although us older players go more tactical since we aren't as fast. Besides that few of us are good enough to make a living out of it.

Between keyboard and graphics output. Take it this way. If you have 200fps, frametime is 5ms. But there is usually one frame lag to maximize utilization => performance. Average lag from 1000Hz mouse is 0.5ms. That's 10.5ms on software level if we hope for 0 latency between mouse driver and application input update. Years ago, that was far from true, but I not seen USB latency tests for W10 in last years. Then rendering time itself which may fit into those 5 extra milliseconds from additional frame in queue from game engine. often, driver<=> gpu adds another delay. I would say that if there is just 20ms between mouse input and resulting data going from GPU to screen, it is good. Then there is delay within screen itself.

Well if you play a tournament worth 100k USD than the talk about "not being able to see beyond 144hz" gets thrown out of the window so fast you wont even notice. Besides, this "humans cant see beyond.." argument was here since 24 fps and is getting ridiculous. I cant see beyond 16gb of RAM...

Nobody denied that those hz are a thing. Just it varies from gamer to gamer. I insist like bigger fov is important in ultrawide as an advantage the same goes with resolution but on a smaller scaling impact. Hz is important only when you already acknowledged enemy's potition and you must kill him before he acts. Each to his own.

20 years ago I was really good at Quake Unreal Tournament (Starsiege)Tribes. I think I could have beat someone on a 360hz monitor on a paltry 60hz. These days I could probably still rank fairly well.
