Backplate is not too important, it's more a sale argument... This card is not done for OC...

agree, most of the time backplate retain heat close to the PCB wich is bad on heavy use. exept for memory on backside (that can be cooled with simple low profile heater) it's aestetical only (and so Gaming style 🙂 )

It's visuals, mainly. That being said, we now have custom PCBs with thermal pads between the back of the card and the backplate with airflow in there as well for better VRM cooling. EVGA ICX cards have this.

This is pretty cool considering how much performance they packed in such a tiny package, but this hardly qualifies as an ITX GPU. As stated before - it's the thickness and height of the card that ITX cases are usually limited by, not the length. As long as the GPU is less than 170mm, the length does not matter.

Incredible, on this lil piece of work, runs @ 66 C?, on stock fan parameters(Curve) I would assume, that is totally insane, even better, put a better thermal compound on there and watch it drop even further. Recommended product? Yeah I would say so, especially for someone is going to do a compact build. I was expecting to run alot hotter. Even better, He even overclock this one small beast to what 2ghz+ on the gpu core and the core only raised 2 c, bringing it to 68c, very amazed, especially coming from a small compact card such as this. Only downfall is the price on this card, other then that, 10-10. Great card MSI, I don't use MSI cards but this one is Far beyond my expectations.

This awesome little guy just made the Fury Nano obsolete :eek3: I just ordered one from Newegg for $389 after reading this review! It'll be nice to have a cool/quiet non-throttling small form factor powerhouse like this instead of the TITANIC Fury Nitro I currently have lol This will go well with my new Ryzen 7 1700X build once I get my hands on a solid working x370 mobo (Biostar x370 GT7 that I pre-ordered was DOA :bang:) Though, this may have a shortlived tenure in my rig depending on how Vega turns out

this small card is awesome..with it I could def consider building a small portable gaming pc instead of my monster 25Kgs tower

Why would it need one? it's so short. Backplates are basically for stopping long cards from bending right?

Way too overpriced for so small card :P
It is the same performance as a full size stock 1070...
