Great idea. If your case has sufficient access to the connector side. Nice review.

I think it would have been helpful to inform us that this is a last gen PSU ie not ATX 3? The 'old' style PSU affects its length of 180mm whereas the latest gen PSUs are smaller. Nothing wrong with proven last gen PSUs. I do think Corsair screwed up by producing the Shift PSUs with last gen design however but I'd imagine that the duration of product development is probably the reason? And I think that much easier access to the PSU connectors is the advantage of the SHIFT design which would be really helpful if you make regular changes to your PC. I wonder if any of the other PSU makers will adopt it?

Man, I like the idea of this, but not enough to replace my current RM1000i.

I love the idea of the cables going to side panel side would make alot easier to manage cables, though i think some case might not like it that

Yeah, my Temjin Tj07 is tall and deep but its a bit narrow. This PSU layout would certainly improve the airflow of my 120:3 rad in the bottom chamber.

Obviously Corsair hopes to sell both the PSU and their compatible cases together. Hope this design is standardized across the industry.

Bought one of these to replace an aging evga t2 1600w (yeah its not rated above gold) but it definitely works for what i need, allows for tidier cable runs, and has a 12vhpwr cable in the box 😀 runs my 4090 perfectly well

@Hilbert Hagedoorn Boss. GAN vs MOSFET psu. would it be possible to find out if the psu-s you test are gan or mosfet. Its just that gan seems to be the future. Not to sure but I fink them apple brick mac pro chargers are gan. Just saying. 🙄:)
