The article states "The card opts for the 12VHPWR connector" but the pictures show 8 pins.

100% correct, after writing 7 of these articles in just a week, things tend to get a little fuzzy 🙂 Fixed, and thanks!

I <3 my TUF Gaming and, unless something goes bad with the brand in the next few years, next card using a chip from any of the three chip manufacturers will most likely be a TUF Gaming as well. It's really TUF (tough) !

It's for sure the card to get at a decent price (4070), no matter what the nerds argue over.

I think it's a hard sell for 5% more performance for $100-150 extra vs the Founders Edition. Apparently NVidia surprised AIB's with the "low" retail price of the Founders Edition card, they had been expecting it to be more, so NVidia have kind of shafted the AIB's by offering that Founders Edition for $100-150 less. I mean I don't think any of the 4070's are at a low price though, I think this generation is overpriced for it's performance. Just it seems NVidia have managed to screw over the AIB's though, it seems. It barely matters what type of 4070 you get, if you wanted the best value one you'd just get the cheapest one that fits within the noise profile that you're aiming for. Overall it strikes me as a bit of a depressing state at the situation that NVidia have helped create re the general high price of all RTX 4070 cards combined with them seemingly screwing over the AIB's at the same time, just shameful generally. I do wish NVidia could shift slightly more towards the "integrity" side of the integrity/greed scale.

FE is pretty bad with 1700rpm low quality fan though, it would annoy me way too much. TUF fans are super quiet at 1000rpm, btw. likely way better than fans of their "Dual" cards. Which aren't bad either, they make no clicking or other annoying tones, but definitely way more audible than TUF at same rpm.

Well, the 4070 Founders hardly made a sound at load: https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=87237

dB(A) measurement only tells a fraction, ComputerBase test says the fan is annoying regardless. I wouldn't even expect anything else to be possible at >1700rpm.

Fair enough, I can understand the difference. For those kind of impressions people would have to read a number of reviews to see if there was a similar pattern between them re perception of Founder Edition fans.

those 1000 rpm fans will soon be rattling as they haven't escaped the range where ramp load contributes to bearing wear.

Sorry but just no. In a closed system, you cannot hear the card even under load.

What dumb crap you are making up once again. After almost two years, the fans of my 3060 TUF were just as ~inaudible as on the first day.

To be honest, it's probably safe to say that the RTX 4070 isn't going to be a noisy card in almost any guise!

If it were any different, I wouldn't have bought another Asus card. You have no clue how much I can't stand any fan tone that isn't just air getting moved. Open case btw.
