Nothing special performance wise, but temps are really nice.

Nice review. There is nothing wrong with the card I think. I still have the AMD media sample 290X and nothing is faster than that card with the same clock speeds. I've tried several other cards and it's the same thing.

The temps are I think the real selling point of this. Many people were turned off by the 290X because of how hot it got. I'd say PowerColor did a fantastic job with their cooling design - I'm surprised the GPU couldn't be overclocked higher. It is a shame about the bit/litecoin miners - while AMD could really use the revenue, the miners are probably really hurting AMD's gaming market. Nvidia is getting a little too far ahead in PC gaming popularity.

Why no photos without cooler?, Not shown elemental base power?

Agreed, those were impressive temps.

I purchased a PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X from OCUK for £359 in the UK with the Golden 3 games ticket. Seemed like a good deal but I am far from happy with the fan noise from the card under load. My PC is in the living room and family members are complaining when the fan ramps up as they are quite loud. All the reviews state the card is dual bios, i.e. quiet/silent or performance/uber but I find it doesn't make any difference which position the switch is in both are equally loud. My understanding is this review and every other review is incorrect in this regard as the card is being shipped with both bios the same and the fans are quite loud under load.
